I had no heat late one night. Tech came about an hour later; immediately told me the fan needed replacing at cost of $1195.00, but didn't have one in stock. Then he proceeds to tell me the furnace needs to be replaced (12 years old); suggested their sales team come out and give quote. In the meantime, I called by usual heating/cooling service firm which came out early in the morning and within 5 minutes, a bad capacitor was diagnosed. Made repair for much much less than the $1195 Great Lakes wanted. Unfortunately, Great Lakes wants to sell you something you probably don't/want need. Needless to say, I will NEVER call Great Lakes again. They can go "jump in the lake."

Upon arrival unit was on and flames were running but blower motor was not. Hit high limit switch and turns off. Checked 5 mfd start assist battery for blower motor at 4.7 mfd and is at low tolerance. ************ will barely spin indicating motor is bad. Needs a new blower motor(quoted $1,195.00). Talked to customer about age of furnace and and cost of repairs and recommend having a comfort advisor out to give a free proposal. Will have someone from office call tomorrow to schedule a time. The start assist battery was outside of tolerance and doing permanent and irreversible damage to the motor so even if the motor is able to spin with a (likely higher mfd and outside OME requirements thus altering the ** Listing) it was and is still damaged. All of the other parts on the furnace are also 12 years old. Like a car if you have a major repair on a 12 year old car most people are going to consider replacing as an option before making the repair. We are only offering options so the customer can make the best decision for their circumstances. A big capacitor might have gotten the motor going but it didnt fix the motor and if it is larger it is going to be outside ** Listing and manufacturer specs creating a liability for the company and a hazard for the customer/homeowner.

We had great service from the repairman, to the salesman, to the installation crew. They explained everything they did, and answered our questions. They were very meticulous about installing our products, and all of the necessary clean up. I would definitely recommend Great Lakes Heating and Air Conditioning!

I had a new furnace, AC and furnace humidifier installed. It was a very large job. At least 7 different technicians were involved over 2 days of work and each one was very personable and very knowledgeable about what they were doing. They answered all my questions and concerns about what needed to be done and what they were doing. They were well organized and considerate of me, my pets and my home. I was notified when the technicians would be arriving and what their names were. I would highly recommend Great Lakes Heating & Air Conditioning. If you want quality, hire quality.
