  Beware! This company price gouges! They billed me almost $300 for a neck brace that can easily be found online for $69. The brace isnt custom or particularly special. I was going to leave a 1-star review but I upped it to to a 2-star since they gave me a small discount when I called and asked about the discrepancy in price. The receptionist stated that the price is set based on what ******** will pay for the item - Im 29, I dont have ********. I dont recommend going here unless you are absolutely desperate. Its disgusting how they try to use the system to get every ***** they can on medical items.

  We at Northern Brace pride ourselves on great customer service. We have staff who are educated and certified to fit braces in a medical type setting. Body braces come in different sizes, and it is important to have the proper size/fit to immobilize said areas properly to aid in healing. We do not ship items to individuals for that reason.We are contracted with many insurances, as well as, ********* These insurances have contracted fee schedules they pay from. Our billing staff submitts the claim to the patient's insurance, and the insurance company deducts their contracted discount from our billed fee. The amount billed to our patients is the contracted insurance allowable. We are not allowed to bill the patient the amount of the discount, only the allowed contracted amount. Which is what we did in this case. We always offer patients the ability to make interest free payments.

  I can understand that there is value in good customer service and having trained staff; and I can see how that would incur an additional cost. However, I dont believe that warrants a cost 3X what I can get elsewhere for the exact same item. I also dont appreciate the lack of transparency on the cost because I never would have expected 2 pieces of plastic and some foam pads to cost over $300, so Im feeling shocked and taken advantage of. Perhaps in the future it would be better to provide more info to customers who likely dont have any knowledge of these things. My hope in leaving this review is that someone will read it and check other options BEFORE they purchase from your company and so they know to ask for the cost up front.
