I bought tires for my car from Tire Rack. I was forced to purchase the warranty on the tires which turned out to be good because the tire failed after about a month. A small bump developed on the wall of the tire, the outside facing wall. I called them and they said I needed to get a new tire and have it installed after which they would reimburse me. I did that, sent pics and sent a copy of the installation receipt to them as instructed. Nothing happened, on my claim on their site it says they need more info, I sent an email asking what more I could provide and I never heard back. My claim number with them is 203-TRR-624610102-1. I believe this process is intentionally difficult so they don't end up paying. I have provided everything I have to them including pics of the tire. There is no phone number to call, and they don't respond to emails. It's very frustrating from the customer perspective and I gather I'm not the only one facing this issue. Finally, there is the amount of the claim itself, the tires cost ****** when purchased. For some reason the 'claim' I filed shows ****** as the claim the tire is suddenly cheaper now. But I had to spend ****** to buy the tire to replace the faulty one they sold me. That should be the amount of the claim.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and frustration.  It appears that the damage to the wheels was caused by the installer.  As a Tire Rack accommodation, we're sending a replacement set of wheels.

      Business Response

      Date: 05/13/2025

We apologize for the frustration and have looked into your road hazard claims with Nation Safe Drivers to get more details.  The terms and conditions of the road hazard policy state you must start the claim(s) prior to replacing the damaged tire(s).  The tires were replaced on 3/13/2025, but the claim wasn't initiated until several days later on 4/6/2025.  The claim denials are valid.

As a Tire Rack accommodation, we can credit the cost of one of the tires back to the credit card used on order PF40132 - the replacement tire invoice dated 3/6/2025.  A Team Lead from our ************************ has reached out to make this offer.  Again, this is a Tire Rack accommodation, and all future claims must be filed prior to the tire replacement to avoid additional claim denials.

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to this complaint.  Please allow 5-7 business days for the credit to be processed back to your card.

We apologize for the frustration.  ***** from our ************* Team has reached out to *** on your behalf and was able to get one claim overturned and approved.  You will be receiving a check directly from Nation Safe Drivers for this tire in the amount of $182.26.  Tire Rack will cover the second tire as One Time Only Accommodation with a credit back to the original form of payment used on the order for the same amount - $182.26

Please keep in mind that for future claims, you MUST have preapproval, or the claim(s) will be denied, and Tire Rack will not cover any additional tires for this reason.

Tire Rack Complaint - Order #******* I purchased four Bridgestone Potenza Sport tires (225/45R-19 XL, production year 2021) from Tire Rack on 08/04/2024 for my 2015 ***** 6 (Order #*******). The tires were delivered to a local Discount Tire (affiliated with Tire Rack), where I paid to have them installed. Less than 7 months later, during routine service, my dealership flagged these tires as excessively worn and needing replacement.I was shocked by this premature wear. When I contacted Tire Rack (Call on 04/24/25 at 1:13PM, phone: ************, spoke with *****, ext. 4175), I was told the tires had no warranty for wear. I later reached out to ********* directly, and they stated Tire Rack is responsible for all warranty and claim handling.Despite being a long-term customer of both ****************** and Discount Tire (with purchases for multiple vehicles), I was only offered a 30% discount on a new set. When I requested to escalate, ***** stated she was the highest point of escalation available. The tires were advertised as a closeout, but there was no clear disclosure that they carried no mileage warranty or were subject to rapid wear. I paid $555 to Tire Rack for these tires, plus $100 in installation at Discount Tire.I have been a loyal customer of Discount Tire for years, and now understand that Discount Tire is the parent company of Tire Rack, which makes this experience even more disappointing.I am seeking a fair resolution: a refund, credit, or proper replacementnot a minimal discount for another full purchase.

      Business Response

      Date: 04/30/2025

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to this complaint.

As ***** explained, Performance tires do not carry a Tread Life Warranty for rapid wear due to the tread compound of the tires.

A 50% credit was issued as a one-time accommodation from Tire Rack for the original tire purchase.  Again, these tires do not have a Tread Life Warranty.

      Thank you.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 04/30/2025

I am rejecting this response because:

I am rejecting Tire Racks proposed resolution because it is not what was offered.
After receiving their emailed 50% offer, I immediately called ***** ******* to confirm the credit would apply to the replacement tires, not the original order. She clearly stated: Whichever tires you need to replace these ones. At the time, I was already at Discount Tire because one of the original tires had blown out, making the vehicle unsafe.
Acting on her confirmation, I purchased new tires (Order #PK88645 for $835). I am now being told the 50% credit only applies to the original $555 order, which contradicts what was promised during that call.
I respectfully request that Tire Rack honor the agreement as it was clearly communicated and provide a refund of $417.78 to my original payment method not store credit and not tied to the older order.

      Business Response

      Date: 05/01/2025

We apologize again for any confusion.  The credit was a Tire Rack accommodation; there was no warranty from the manufacturer for rapid tread wear.  We would not credit the new order, and it was confirmed with ***** that the offer was not for the new order.  The 30% discount was offered on the new order that hadn't been placed on 4/24 when the offer was made.  When the discount wasn't acceptable to you, it was decided to offer a 50% credit back on the original order instead.

Again, anything offered, and any credit issued was a onetime only accommodation from Tire Rack for a non-warrantable situation.

      Thank you.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 05/01/2025

I am rejecting this response because:

I am rejecting Tire Racks response because it completely ignores the core issue: Tire Rack sold me OLD and faulty set of tires. These Bridgestone Potenza Sport tires did not last even seven months, and one of them already blew out creating a serious safety hazard. The fact that they were sold without a treadwear warranty does not exempt Tire Rack from responsibility when the product fails this quickly and dangerously.

There was no warning or disclaimer on Tire Racks website that these tires were susceptible to rapid wear or blowouts. Selling closeout tires with hidden performance risks and no clear disclosure is reckless, deceptive, and completely unacceptable especially from a company with the reputation of Tire Rack. I am a longtime Discount Tire customer and have never had an issue like this before.

In the middle of dealing with this, Tire Rack offered a 50% credit. I confirmed directly by phone with ***** ******* that this would apply toward a replacement purchase, and she clearly said it would be for whichever tires you need to replace these ones. Based on that assurance and the fact that one tire had already failed I ordered new tires from Tire Rack again in good faith, trusting that the company would stand behind its word.

After placing the new order, I was told the 50% discount would only apply to the old order a bait-and-switch after I had already acted based on what was promised.

This is not a warranty issue its a product safety failure compounded by mishandling of a resolution. I am requesting again, the refund of $417.78 to my original payment method, representing 50% of the actual replacement order I was advised to make.

This is the minimum Tire Rack should do to make this right.

      Business Response

      Date: 05/01/2025

BBB - please close this complaint Tire Rack has already issued a credit as an accommodation.  The manufacturer's warranty is clearly stated on every tire sold on our website.  There is nothing additional for Tire Rack to do or offer at this time.

      Thank you.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 05/01/2025

I am rejecting this response because:

Their request to close this shows EXACTLY why I am escalating this problem. Their reply avoids the core issue entirely. This is not just about policy or warrantyits about the sale of a product that clearly failed under normal use and then changing the terms of their own resolution offer.

      This issue is not resolved.

I purchased a set of tires on 10/11/24 and had them mounted at my local Americas Tire. On 3/13/25 I had gotten a nail on my back passenger tire. Utilizing the road hazard coverage, I went to the same Americas Tire and said I was there to get my tire repaired under the Tire Rack warranty. I asked if there was anything I needed to do before they fixed my tire and the associate just said to buy a new tire and send the receipt to Tire Rack. So, I moved forward with purchasing a new tire. I left my vehicle there and 20 minutes later the manager called me and said they had stripped one of my lug nuts and could not get the tire off. So the new tire I just purchased was not put on. I then had to get the stripped lug nut out and bring it back to get the new tire mounted on 3/31/25. I then called to submit the claim because the job was complete. The gentleman on the phone went through the whole process and I submitted pics and documents of the repair while on the phone with him. He stated that the reimbursed amount of $120.45 would be sent out in the mail that day. I asked why it was only a partial amount because I paid $240.00 for the new tire at ******** Tire. He said he would ask his supervisor, and someone would get back to me the following day. The next day the claim was denied because I didnt get pre-authorization before the repairs were made. I called numerous times to see if the claim could be paid out or reopened and I was told neither could be done. Very frustrated with the lack of knowledge from Americas Tire and the very poor customer service and condescending remarks of Tire Rack and their road hazard claims department.

A credit for the original purchase price of one tire was issued as an accommodation from Tire Rack, and also a $100 Tire Rack Gift Certificate to be used on a future order.

Terrible experience they say the tires are only 6 months old yet every single one is bad and needs to be replaced and within the first 100 miles I had a blow out.
