      On February 13, 2025, I signed a standard real estate purchase agreement to purchase the home and land located at **********************************************. The Title Company was Meridian Title Company ***** ***** ********************************************** Closing date 3/21/2025, I received a credit from the sellers at closing for taxes owed by the seller for 2024 due 2025 in the amount of $2,340.24 However the amount that should have been credited to me is $4,666.76. On 4/13/252024 I received the 2024 due 2025 property tax bill in my name, the amount of $4,666.76. An error in the amount of $2,326.52 Per the Laporte County Assessor and **************** personnel the 2024 tax bill was available online in early March, I was advised that the bills were online NO later than the 2nd week of March. As my closing date was March ******* there was ample opportunity for the Bank, the closing company and the real estate agent to obtain the proper property tax information. The title company failed to do proper tax research prior to closing. It is their responsibility to do the complete research on the property prior to closing. Meridian FAILED in their due diligence and fiduciary responsibility in obtaining accurate closing information.This error on their part will cost me $2,326.52
