    I was accepted into Valparaiso University with a scholarship. Upon moving into the dorms, I was immediately faced with severe health issues. Including sinus infections, bronchitis, and hormonal irregularities. I could not keep up with my studies. I was passing out in the shower, and in a severe amount of pain. I was in the emergency room in April 2023. After returning from the hospital I was getting up to use the restroom and recognized the dizzy headache whoosh feeling from when I was exposed to mold as a teenager. I immediately reached out to residential life to report that I was experiencing mold exposure. In response, they came to my room to look, but to not visibly seeing the mold, their response was to blame it on the plants Ive had for several years. My health continued to decline. I did my best to complete my studies, but was unsuccessful. I had nowhere to go to get out of the situation. For the summer, my parents would not allow me to come home, so I was offered room and board in the dorms for summer housing with no charge. In August, I found visible mold on clothing, shoes and items that I owned that were not ill kept, but rather just present in the space. I have documentation of this from an environmental office where they took the items to verify there was mold on the items. I had mentioned the health effects of mold to several of VUs employees in the student life office at an event (director of sorority and fraternity life) and another employee from that office that were alumni, and they knew that there was for sure mold in the dormitories. This was concerning to me since I am allergic and had no warning or knowledge of this which I shouldve had before moving in. I am still today suffering and recovering from this exposure and watching students in the hallways suffer with health issues due to this. I lost all of my belongings and a place to live as well as my health due to this. I hope there is some way to repair/recover whats been lost.

    Attached is Valparaiso University's official response/statement to the complaint.  I would again ask that you accept this as the University's official response to the complaint since it went to the wrong address and to a person that no longer works at the University.  Also, attached are Exhbits A, B, C, and D, mentioned in the response/statement.
