      ****** search gave me names, addresses, and phone for over 20 contractors, and got others by referrers, around ******, IN, that could fix a damaged retaining wall on my property for which the insurance company had asked for estimates. Many contractors came, including ******* Nursery, to inspect the job. None of them told me of a charge for the inspection and the estimate. I called several of the contractors, including ******* after waiting days for their estimates. During my call to ************************** said he had 2 estimates and wanted me to visit his office to see and decided on one. I told him to send me both estimates electronically, or by mail, because I couldnt visit at the time. He said he wasnt sending the estimates unless I visit his office. When I eventually had the time, I called him and left messages several times to set up a visit. Suddenly, I received one (not two as previously mentioned) estimate dated May 9, 2022, from ******* with a $75 bill in the mail. I then called and left messages many times between May and October for an explanation about the bill. I received no response.I got a call from ************************* on 10/7, to tell me that the bill was for his estimate. He didn't tell me of a charge for an estimate when I invited him or during his visit. He said the information about his changes is on his website. I told him that I did not get his information from his website. He would not have been invited if I knew or if he had told me that he charges for estimates. He threatened to send me to a collector and mess up my credit if I did not pay him.I found ************************* to be condescending and ****** aggressive/threatening. I told him that Ill report the situation to the Better Business Bureau, to which he responded, go ahead. I will appreciate your assistance to resolve this situation. Thanks.

      We have never in 84 years of business had to deal with a matter legally and this is currently being dealt with by attorneys.

      The company has been in business for three generations. The third generation recently purchased and likes to tout 80 plus years in business. Past performance is not necessarily a factor when a new owner takes over. The business practice of not communicating with your customer when thousands of dollars of extra charges are being added to the job, if not illegal, is surely a poor business practice. This owner picked up and left my job because I questioned him about his unethical business practices.
