The Emergency Veterinary Care Center, **************************, IN is an unscrupulous, money gouging organization that preys upon the heart strings of dog lovers, especially senior citizens, I am new to the area, and my 4 yr. old golden retriever got into a scuffle with a feral cat.The cat bit the right ear of my dog rather severely. The next morning (Saturday), my dog had a very swollen right ear that felt very hot, and he was VERY lethargic. So I called around to a number of Veterinary clinics, but none provided emergency care on weekends, and they all referred me to EVCC Mishawaka. When I arrived at the emergency clinic, the receptionist took down all my personal information, and said I should wait to be called for triage. A technician took the dogs temperature (104 F) and then sent me back to the waiting area to be seen by a veterinarian "soon". About 30 minutes later I was called in to see **** ******, DVM.She took a quick look at the dog's ear, and said a technician would be in soon to go over the recommendations for treatment. The technician came in with a long list of suggested treatments, including a blood test, ear cleaning, antibiotic pills, antibiotic injection, pain medicine and more. The total cost for treatment came to $962. I was so shocked and in disbelief that a clinic would propose to charge me nearly a thousand dollars for a cat bite!!!!! I of course declined treatment, expressed by outrage over their proposed costs, and immediately left the clinic. There is no way a vet clinic should try to rip off a senior citizen like me, even if it is a so called "emergency clinic". I would warn other pet owners about the price gouging clinic, and STRONGLY recommend seeking veterinary care elsewhere. Further, I think it is immoral for a ********** to charge such outrageous rates to softhearted seniors who only care about the welfare of the beloved family pet and are likely to cough up the excessive fees during a somewhat vulnerable setting.I'm age 80.

Took my dog there because he was limping and one of his toes were swollen. They took X-rays and ended up finding a ccl tear. I spent $830 that day including the pail meds. They didnt do anything for the swollen toe , so when I took him back there a day later because the toe has swollen three times as much. even though I brought him in for the initial thing. They wouldnt do anything besides ask for more money for a problem they did nothing to help
