  Contractor quit on me. said he would be back. and not charge me for remainder of work. I paid half of his estimate up front.putting in shower niche and removing existing plaster, he caused other damage doing bathroom remodel.- wall in bedroom collapsed, he partially fixed.. in another bedroom plaster is cracked.the niche never was done correctly.I also paid for all materials he needed.Dust from removing plaster caused issues with my furnace.Not sure he put insulation behind new drywall.Missing trim from around windows.I ended up hiring another contractor costing me additional money, work is still not done.original estimate was given to me in July , 2022 when he left did not clean anything up. I was left without a shower or sink in my bathroom making it unlivable. only have a toilet.

  We sincerely apologize for challenges you may have experienced with A&K Tile. As stated in our estimates, material costs are not included and purchases made by the contractor would be reimbursed upon proof of purchase. While additional services to repair a leak were requested, further inspection revealed damage to the structure of the home; A&K Tile has never claimed to be liable nor certified to work on the foundation, structure, or roofing of any property. The Homeowner gave no notice of inspections or other contractors being hired simultaneously nor were we informed of issues regarding the shower tile or niche once completed. The contractor has provided photos of the finished services, receipts and all payments from the Homeowner.

   I am rejecting this response because:

  
  It does not address why work was not finished.

  
  

  It does not address why I was left with NO usable sink or shower which made living there unacceptable.

  
  

  It does not address why text message said contractor would be back to finish ALL work at no charge.  ************** he said he would be there but never showed up.

  
  

  It does not say why house key was never returned.
  
  

  Not sure why a partial quote was attached or what attached text messages from someone else had to do with my complaint.

  
  

  The NICHE WAS NEVER COMPLETED.  picture attached did not have ANY water barrier behind niche and it was not installed to size requested.  No grout was added, 

  
  

  ALL payments requested were made and even additional payments were made.  I can produce documents if neeed.

  I'm sorry that the consumer feels wronged by my company, and we did say we would complete the work for free, but conditions on the job site proved to be unsafe for us to continue to work there. The text messages from "another person" were from the customers daughter. Who was dealing drugs and had criminal activity everyday while we were there. The homeowner, respectively "***********************", did not even live at the property. I had to channel through her daughter for this project, and with the criminal activity, that made completion very difficult. My company tools were coming up missing, and physical threats were made to us by the homeowners ex husband, ( who was not suppose to be at the house in first place ). So I made the decision to pull off the project. I wanted to refrain from releasing this information as it feels immature, but I do not owe ******************* anything but an apology. She paid my company for all services completed already. ( she paid as tasks were completed ) so we are up to date and current as far as payment goes. I am not willing to pay for another contractor to come finish the work, maybe I'm wrong for that, but what I am willing to do is keep my word and finish the work free of labor charge.

   I am rejecting this response because:

  first of all, I was never notified of conditions being unsafe.  I got excuse after excuse for him not showing up, but was never told he felt unsafe or that his tools came up missing.    I can furnish complete correspondence if it is needed.

  My daughter and her father - not my ex-husband said they only talked to him to question him of shoddy work being done and there were no threats.

  I told him if anyone was there that should not be that he was to call the police and he said ok.

  RE- wall to bedroom caving in when he was trying to create the shower niche, gaps at the ceiling above drywall,  no water barrier behind the niche, 

  and the fact that my furnace was damaged due to the dust and debris from demolition of the plaster without covering any vents.

  I was not aware of any 'criminal' activity going on.  This is the first he mentioned that as well.

  My daughter may smoke, due to her having a medical marijuana card, but she said that **************** was smoking as well.

   

  I am not sure I trust him to finish the job as it should be completed at this point.  He lied to me many times saying he was going to show up and never did.

  Ignored my texts for weeks while he went and started other projects and never gave me updates as to what he was doing.  Just left me unable to live in my home.
