Mr. Thad R*********, under the name Thad M******, reached out, after I made a Facebook post in a group page titled, Wichita Area Contractors and Home Services. I had multiple tilers come by and give estimates but none were as quick to give an estimate for the remaining work we, my wife and I, were seeking to have completed (a partial finishing of a walk in tiled shower). I had previously had some work started by a inexperienced individual who was over his head whom left us with over half of the project left to complete. This was expressed in the FB post as it was, in-person, during the initial walk-through process with all of the estimating contractors. It was evident there was a lot of amateurism by the previous attempt on the project and this was a shared sentiment by all contractors who came to look at the job - not in a stage that could not be rectified, also made evident by all who came to look at the project. We ended up choosing Mr 'M******' due to his prompt and reasonable estimate in which he expressed would take 2-4 days to complete.. this was not the case. Thad showed up late, generally not when he said he would, a day if not days later, unbeknownst to us until he arrived most times, would stay past 8pm often + weekends, leaving without communicating, and then disappear for a week before deciding to show up, complete minimal work, then began changing the project, with no updated invoice, no timeline, and even less communication, as to his outlook for the job and its completion. There were no notices given as to what material costs, were as we provided all of the building mats - thin-set and tile, and grout and edging, cement board, and wood (grout, which we did not have completed due to terminating his remaining work to be completed) and we were left with uneven and broken tiles installed on the walls and the floors - worse than what we originally had installed - and a ridiculous bill, three times the cost estimate given at the beginning of the project.
