Professional Finish Concrete did a new driveway for us in May 2022 and within months there were already massive cracks. A friend of mine that does construction took a look at it and said that cracks should never go through a control joint but one of my cracks is 20+ feet long and goes through 3 different control joints! I spoke to ***** (Owner) on the phone in September and he said he would come out to inspect within a week. I waited 2 weeks and when he didnt show up I called again and left a voicemail. He did not return my call so I called again a couple weeks later and again left a voicemail but again he didn't return my call. Just called again today and left another voicemail. I rarely leave negative reviews and have never filed a BBB complaint about any company but I dont know know what else to do to get his attention so he can resolve this situation with me directly. I'm more than happy to withdraw my complaint if he'll speak to me.

    Business Response

    Date: 11/29/2022

We have never performed work for this individual, we worked with the previous homeowner, who signed a contract with us, stating that we’re not responsible for hairline cracking.  We did not receive any money from the person filing this complaint.

My husband ***** did speak with him, however he told him it would be a few months not weeks before he could get out to look at it. We have no recent calls or messages from this person, he’s never emailed us. We would be willing to still take a look at the crack, but we’re very busy currently. Now after seeing that a person who was NEVER our customer and obviously never read the contract, bashing us online, we’re considering hiring an attorney for defamation of character against our business and are more than ready and willing to go to court. We work really hard to provide top quality and take great pride in our work.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Assumed Answered]

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:  Professional Finish Concrete,
My BBB complaint and public reviews are based on my first-hand experience with your company. You’re correct in saying that I did not purchase your services — the previous homeowners did — but I also never claimed to be the customer. The work was done while we were closing on the house and we are now the owners of the house (and therefore owners of the driveway). If the contract doesn’t warranty a 20+ foot crack that goes through 3 control joints and doesn’t transfer from one homeowner to another, then I’ll accept that reality, but if you’re really trying to build and maintain a reputable business, I expect you to stand by your work and provide good customer service (i.e., return phone calls in a timely manner and respond to reviews/complaints without needing a nudge from BBB).
All that said- there’s no need to threaten legal action— I just want someone to return my phone calls. None of my statements — in public reviews or in this BBB complaint — are false. And if you read my statements (which it sounds like you have), I said that I will happily withdraw/amend my reviews/complaints if you just return my phone calls. Lastly, I didn’t just ask Rusty to come inspect the prior work performed, I also asked him to bid on a backyard patio.
    Facts:
    - Your company — Professional Finish Concrete, LLC — did in fact do my driveway in the spring and I confirmed with the previous homeowners.
    - There is in fact a 20+ foot long crack that goes through 3 control joints and there’s also a corner that isn’t a hairline crack- a portion of the concrete has detached. I’ve provided photos of the work performed.
    - In your reply, you stated “we have no recent calls or messages from this person”. I have phone records — which I can provide if needed — that show:
    -- I called (913) 706-0657 on Sep 26 at 2:39PM and left a voicemail
-- My call was returned on Sep 26 at 5:22PM (the only inbound call I’ve ever received) and I spoke to ***** for 4 min. He did tell me they’re very busy but said weeks (not months) to come take a look.
-- I texted (913) 706-0657 on Oct 12 at 9:30AM, which was not replied to
    -- I called (913) 706-0657 on Oct 26 at 2:59PM and left a voicemail
    -- I called (913) 706-0657 on Nov 9 at 12:13PM and left a voicemail
Your response via BBB is the first time I’ve heard from your company since Sep 26. I would still like to resolve this matter civilly and I’m still willing to withdraw/amend my reviews/complaints. Please give me a call at your earliest convenience.

    Regards,

Hi- please see attached. The product includes a 1 year warranty and does not explicitly state whether or not it is transferable. Says to "Please call for any questions or concerns
regarding warranty." but since the business will not return my phone call, its unlikely I'll be able to contact them to understand if it transferred to me or not. Typically, warranties stay with the product and transfer to next homeowner. The business does not have a website where I can access the warranty information either.

Please advise whether or not I can continue with my complaint.

    Thanks,
