We used our home warranty ******** **** ****** to get a contractor to come out and have a look at our leaking humidifier. *** called Everyday Heating and Cooling. If we use ***, we are charged a $*** deductible that will go towards any service performed.
The contractor came out 48 hours later and looked at the closet where our humidifier is. He closed a pipe we need opened for winterizing our pool. He told us nothing was wrong after about 60 seconds of light observation and left. When he left and the furnace kicked on, the humidifier gushed water again. We have attempted to request a refund for our $***.
When contacting the office, they typically do not answer and their voice mailbox is full. I finally got an answer and she said the required paperwork for *** would be submitted the next morning, but it was not. I tried to contact the contractor directly to discuss what went wrong and he raised his voice and hung up on me.
We cannot get a refund from *** until Everyday Heating and Cooling submits their paperwork, which they have refused to do.
We had another contractor come out outside of our warranty and they diagnosed and fixed the issue within 30 minutes. We paid them for services they provided. We would like a refund for the services NOT provided by Everyday Heating and Cooling.

    Business Response

    Date: 12/22/2022

We received a work order from ******** **** ****** to diagnose a furnace. The call came in as a regular heat call. When we arrived at the residence the owner met us outside and led us through the garage to a closet where the furnace was located. Water was pooled on the floor beneath a leaking pipe. We discovered the leaking pipe was not shut down all the way and shut it off. The water stopped leaking. No other leak was detected. I explained to the customer that it was a good thing it wasn't the humidifier because her home warranty (***) DOES NOT COVER HUMIDIFIER REPAIRS and she would have to pay out of pocket. To be clear, Everyday Heating and Cooling did not receive any payment from the home owner. She paid her warranty company to have the problem diagnosed. She later called and said she wanted her money back because she didn't know that the humidifier wasn't covered. I explained that her deductible she paid to the warranty would need to come from them and not us. Again, even if the problem was the humidifier, it wouldn't have been coverd. We have no control over her deductible she Paid or the coverage policy her warranty provides. She was demanding and super abrasive on the phone and was placed on our do not contact list by the warranty company.

    Customer Answer

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

Regardless of if it was covered by warranty, we needed our humidifier fixed as it was actively leaking. This is the job of companies like Everyday Heating and Cooling. If I knew how to fix my humidifier, I would not call in professionals. Not only were they unable to fix the humidifier, but they took zero time to complete an accurate diagnosis, made an incorrect diagnoses and left. I attempted to contact them so that they would submit their paperwork to *** as *** explained this would be my only way to be refunded my deductible. They typically did not answer their phone. They finally picked up that evening and said they would submit paperwork the next morning but did not, so I had to call again the next afternoon. This time there was no answer so I ended up having to text someone at their office. I was understandably abrasive at this point due to the lack of care and attention given to me as a customer. Again, cooperating with Everyday Heating and Cooling was my only way of getting a refund from ***. In the meantime, I was busy trying to find other contractors willing to do the work quickly as our humidifier was actively leaking.
