    **** ****** ***

    ****** ***** ** *****

************ ****** We sold a 2010 Honda Accord with a clean Kansas title with the vin # ***************** to ******* ****** on February 10th, 2022. ********* mom came in and paid for the car for her since she was having a difficult with life, so mom was getting the car for her to get a fresh start and better ********* life. Then approximately in May of 2022, she contacted us saying her car got stolen and she left the title in the car and once it was recovered and released back to her from the Kansas City, MO tow lot she asked if we could get her a duplicate title or a copy of the original that we made when we sold her the car. The car was shot up and a homicide happened in the 2010 Honda Accord. Then she put a fake/ or different temp tag on the accord. She was out driving the car in Leavenworth and said she was doing things she shouldn’t have been doing. ******* then gets stopped by a Leavenworth County sheriff, her car then got impounded to a local tow lot in Leavenworth since the incorrect tag was on it. ******* then came to us saying that the car was stolen when we bought it and the tow company wouldn’t release it to her and only that last registered owner. She brought her mom and was irate and demanding us on how to fix the situation. Once we found this out that it was stolen when we purchased it we told ******* we would need to investigate the situation on hand. We then told ******* that if we investigate the situation and it comes back nothing as her fault, we would let her get another car in exchange for the Honda. ******* then contacts the previous owner, and they came to the dealership together several times making demands and yelling at us telling us we need to get the car out of impound for them. Pay for the Honda to get it out of the tow lot and give it to the prior owner and then give ******* another car.  We then contact a local police officer to help investigate as the incident report was very vague as to when and how the car got stolen from the previous registered owner. The prior owner left the car running with her purse and title in the vehicle to let it warm up in the wintertime. We had no idea as since the people that we bought the car from had a Clean Kansas title with keys and id that matched the name on the title. We Learned at this time everything that had happened in these several months after her purchasing the car from us that it had got stolen from *******, she was able to go get it out of KCMO impound lot, her driving around with wrong tags that caused it to get impounded. We told ******* that if she had gone to register that car in the legal time frame this could have been resolved once brought to our attention but with everything else that had happened and the reason it got impounded was not our fault for her putting incorrect tags on the car and got busted by the local law enforcement. ******* then contacted the Wyandotte consumer protection agency along with **** dealer licensing  and you at the BBB. We met with the Kansas Dealer licensing investigator on August 30, 2022. The investigator informed us the accord in the impound lot in Leavenworth was placed on hold by Wyandotte county as to investigate the car as it had a homicide that happened in the car. We are currently working on a resolution that will suit ******* and us on getting this situation handled.
