Purchased a New Build Rodrock Home March 30th, 2023. By May 2023 the basement toilet was constantly backing up. By August 2023, a full sewage overflow in the basement bathroom. Contacted Rodrock immediately and they said it's a you problem, until you can prove it's a me problem. I hired a plumber to scope the line. He told me the backwater valve couldn't function because the line was not slope correctly. I shared this information immediately with the builder. The Rodrock PM came out to the home with the Owner of Plumbing company. They did not investigate anything and said "we did everything right" and left. Fast forward to May 2024. 1/3 of our new home filled with sewage, the overflow originating from the basement bathroom. After 6 weeks of additional investigation which Rodrock, their Plumber, etc was invited to, it was determined that more than half of the underground piping had no pitch and some of it with backpitch, holding the sewage in. By early June Rodrock admitted that they and their plumber did not do the work correctly and they said they would get this resolved quickly. It has been 1.5 years since alerting Rodrock of this issue. It has been 6 months since we have had sewage fill our home and with continued plumbing investigations, the sewage is starting to back up again. Rodrock, in part with their insurance carrier, are dragging their feet and trying to lowball the offer to fix the whole system. Rodrock's plumber Nachbar has stated they did nothing wrong and it's fine to run the pipe flat. Meanwhile my sewer lines continue to collect waste and back up into a branch of lines that are completely exposed in the basement.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: this issue remains open.  My lawyers and I have complied with the request of Rodrock's insurance to quantify and qualify the demand, which was emailed to the parties on Friday, January 17th.

      Sincerely,

New build home purchase - 9/15/2020

Structural Foundation and water issue - 9/19/2020

A few days after I closed on my new build home we found a significant puddle of water on the kitchen floor. My dad went to the basement and saw water was leaking from the ceiling. I let the builder know there was a leak and they responded right away and it was a very big deal. The owner of Rodrock said they were not happy about it and they would fix it right away. They sent out workers 2 days later first thing Monday morning. The workers stated there was an issue with the wall/foundation and in turn was causing a water issue. When the worker was done he stated the issue was fixed. Since moving in I have had the exact structural foundation and water issue in the exact same place that they supposedly fixed. I have tried to rectify the situation multiple times by calling the customer service number for the builder - ************. I’ve called several times and no one answers the phone and when leaving messages no one calls you back. I’ve emailed back and forth with ****** ****** regarding the structural issue and water issue and she has been less than helpful. Her response was not helpful as she stated they don’t even have it on record when they fixed the issue on 9/21/2020. It’s very concerning that Rodrock doesn’t keep record of issues they fix. Rather than having someone come out and look at the work they completed then ****** would rather minimize the situation and that I need to go buy caulk and caulk it. I’m not a professional home builder nor is it my responsibility to assess an issue that is the builders responsibility. I have kids and the reason I bought my home was to be able to finish the basement. Since this problem has not been resolved I’m afraid there could now be a mold issue. I did ask ****** to have a supervisor contact me and no one from Rodrock has reached out to me at all. I will not be satisfied until the issue is fixed and the job is completed correctly.
