This rental company did the bare minimum every time I put in a request for help fixing something. Our refrigerator went out, they had a company deliver a new one but the company couldn’t install it so I had to install it myself and sit the old one outside that wasn’t picked up for over a week. Our sink was backed up and they refused to send anyone out. I finally checked it and found rocks from a fish tank in the lines. They had a deck rebuilt in our backyard and the company they hired threw all the random rocks and granite and trash in my backyard (which I was responsible for mowing) so I had to move it all in one pile in the yard and they tried to charge me for it after I moved out. The front door fell apart and they hired someone to fix it. They threw a piece of lexann (plastic) on the door, caulked the screws and called it good and it broke the next day again. There was a lazy Susan that didn’t have glass in it that I put cardboard on so my kids and animals didn’t mess with it, and they tried to charge me for breaking the glass that wasn’t even there when I moved in. My son was ran over in the drive way, I moved out in March of 2023, turned the gas off on march 9th 2023, and they left it in my name for April and May and I now have a $528 bill on my credit report. When I called them to explain to them, they said that they have a move out date of the end of May however, I moved out in March ! They also took my whole security deposit and still tried to charge me over $5,000 in fees for things that were tore up in the house that were already tore up when I moved in. The only thing I’d take claim for is the holes that were put in doors or walls and the trash that was left. Other than that, most everything else was reported and not done anything with but they are charging me for it.

I recently paid an application fee to rent a home they had listed as I am relocating to the area for a new job. The fee is non refundable, and they state as such, but they also say they will give a response within 3-7 business days, when in fact they took my I information and money and stopped communicating with me altogether. Nothing regarding acceptance or denial of the application, in the event of denial they say you have 30 days to apply for another listed property, but you can’t do this without paying more until you me initial application is declined. I feel like this is questionable practice to more or less ghost a paying customer. I’ve attempted to reach a leasing agent by phone and email, and have received no response. They have a gatekeeper that can provide little to no information, and they just send you to voicemail when you ask for an agent.

Im currently 3 days without heat at my residence for the second time in a month. The first time was because they neglected to repair multiple carbon monoxide leaks for months. This negligent business will assign contractors to a repair and then not approve any repairs indefinitely while their tenants suffer and pay for it. They need to be shut down and potentially jailed for their negligence.

My wife and I put a request to vacate on May 16th and our lease was set to terminate on June 30th. In the phone call with Ad Astra Realty the next day, I was told that we would have our security deposit returned within 30 days from the termination of the lease. We ended up moving out of the home on June 22nd. On Monday, July 25th, myself and my wife contacted ***** ****** to inquire about the status of our security deposit. She told us that she was unaware of the status as it had yet to be processed. We called again and emailed her on Friday, July 29th to remind her that our deposit had yet to be returned and was due to us by today, July 30th. She answered that she was in the middle of processing it. I logged into the Ad Astra Realty tenant portal to see if there was any information there and surprisingly found that there was a $250 charge and an inspection report dated June 22nd, which coincides with the day that we moved out. It was not itemized and nothing in the inspection went beyond normal wear and tear or things that existed when we moved into the property about 3 years ago. After carefully reading our lease and the Kansas law, we found that they are violating our rights. Firstly, the lease states clearly in section 1.6 that, in Kansas, an itemized list of deductions must be sent to tenants within 14 calendar days of the end of the lease. Second, Kansas statute 58-2550 states that a landlord has 14 days to return the deposit after determining deductions or 30 days, whichever is sooner. The home was inspected on June 22nd, listed on ****** for rent on June 28th, and taken off the market on July 7th. Clearly, Ad Astra has failed to comply with Kansas law and the terms of our lease. Kansas law states that the deposit and 1 1/2 of the amount wrongfully withheld is due for failure to comply. I am only demanding that our full deposit be returned immediately and the $250 charge be removed from the tenant portal. If this does not happen, it will be escalated legally.
