On May 3rd, 2023, I purchased a vintage *** ***** watch from the owner, ***** He demanded that I pay in cash and that if I paid in cash, he would cut the price down. I followed instruction, and paid for the watch all cash for $1,500. He offered me a 1 year warranty for the product. No receipt. When I asked for a receipt, he would not grant me one and insisted that "he would take care of me". That same day, I had to go pick up something at another Jewelry store, so I had them take a look at it. They mentioned it was defective and that it needed to be serviced - so I took it back to **** same day. He said I just didn't know how to operate it, so we got the second hand working, and I thought that was that. I did not wear the watch for months, but would mess with it every now and then and noticed it was not keeping time. I never wore it. Never dropped it. Today, he accused me of breaking this watch and would not honor any sort of warranty. He actually denied saying there was a warranty. I know another person that has purchased from him, and he did confirm that he was offered the same - a 1 year warranty. He has agreed to FIX it, but wants to "split the difference". To fix it, the price is $800 for new movement. I am seeking some sort of refund for this or for **** to honor his warranty and fix the product that he sold me.

    Good morning,

I have successfully resolved this complaint directly with the business owner. I would like to retract my complaint.

    Thank you!

I had taken my father-in-law's vintage Bucherer watch (with original watch band) to this repair shop and after examining the watch, the owner **** (unknown last name) assured me he could fix the watch. I asked him to provide me with an estimate prior to work being done. He left me a message on my cell phone saying it would be between $3-500 and I quickly sent them a text saying NO thank you, I will pick up my watch without having the work done. They then sent me a text saying they did not see my message and they had already sent the watch (to New York) to have it fixed and it was too late to cancel the order.

Feeling like I was being coerced, I took my husband with me to pick up the watch. Not only was the watch going to cost me $275, but the original watch band was missing (the owner was very admiring of the original watchband when I first dropped the watch off). When I protested that the watch had the original watchband when I dropped it off he accused me of lying and said he knew "you were trouble the minute you walked into my business".

He became more agitated and would not provide an invoice of work done nor would he provide the old movement (which I was told I could have back) and commented that it was "his business", not mine. I suggested that he contact his people in New York where he sent the watch for repair to see if they had taken the band off and misplaced it, but he refused. So in order to get the watch face back I had to pay him the $275. After inspecting it, there are several scratches on the back....the original was in perfect condition.

I fully believe he took my original watch and gave me another watch that is similar. I have copies of texts and telephone messages to show I did not want the watch to be worked on in the first place. The fact that the original watch band is missing is my word against his.
