We took our 13 year old mini doxie to southside which was his regular vet because we saw a bump near his bottom and were concerned. They examined it and said "its a tumor but its probably not cancerous since it is not causing him any problems" and because they are the doctors we took their word for it. A few days pass and our dog just starts declining healthwise. He was not acting like himself and not eating so we took him back to the vet not even a week later and explained the previous visit to them the vet said "It's probably unrelated" We said okay she ran some tests and came back and said his tests came back pretty normal and that we could do an x-ray or run a pancreatitis test. We decided on the pancreatitis test because it was just a blood draw and less stressful for him. When she came back she said "yes it's pancreatitis" and started naming off treatment plans. I looked this woman straight in the eyes and said "So he's not dying right?" and she responded with a no. So she gave us false hope. We did the very expensive overnight treatment and brought him home the next day with the approval of the vet but he didn't seem to be getting any better so we took him back the next day for extra treatment and they let us take him home that night. He just seemed to be getting worse and worse and by Thursday morning he was so weak.. he wasn't walking, drinking, eating, or even walking. All he seemed to have energy for was vomiting. So that's when we decided to take him to an emergency vet where they proceed to tell us he doesn't have pancreatitis but masses in his belly and on his liver. I do not believe the prognosis would have been different had Southside diagnosed him properly but at least we could have made a decision instead of letting him suffer for a week. We asked for our money back on the treatment since he didn't have pancreatitis. we shouldn't have to pay for treatment for a disease he didn't have. They are not working with us.
