We bought a Protech 500 model tent last year for aprox. $1200. The website makes lots of claims about how durable canvas tents are and how easy maintenance is. They give step by step instructions about cleaning and waterproofing the material. Our tent ended up becoming mildew spotted and musty smelling over the winter in storage so we followed the instructions on the company's website about killing the mildew with vinegar and washing the tent with oxiclean. When we began the process there were zero holes in the canvas, after cleaning the tent exactly as the manufacturer instructs there are hundreds of holes and tears where the cleaner has broken down the cotton fibers. Unfortunately I did not take pictures before beginning the cleaning process because I had faith that it would work as described on the manufacturer's website. The tent is now useless as it does not keep out rain. The manufacturer is unwilling to replace the damaged part of the tent even for a fee and simply offered me 10% off a brand new tent, a deal that they occasionally offer to the general public anyhow. Given how boastful the website is about durability and ease of maintenance I feel that "misleading" is an understatement.
