I was visiting the Wichita area with 2 other people and wanted to check out this store’s used CD, DVD, and video game selection. While shopping, I found a used copy o* **** ***** *** – the **** ***** ******* *** ***. The game had 2 price stickers on it, one had the price at $13.99 on the back and front the sticker partially covering it had the price at $18.99. I also picked up a DVD, **** *******, and another *** game, ***** ** *** ******* At the register, the cashier rang up the **** ***** *** game as $18.99 and removed the price stickers from the game, but left the price stickers on the ***** ** *** ****** game and the **** ******* DVD after purchasing but I did not notice this until I was home the next day.

I reached out via email to CD Tradepost to notify them of this issue and request a refund of the $6 I was overcharged, as I could not return to the store as I live in another state. The CEO of CD Tradepost responded to my email; he stated that $18.99 is the correct price for the **** ***** *** game as the price had increased from $13.99 in December 2022. He would not refund the $6 but he offered store credit, which is not useful to me as I do not live in the area. I replied to his email, explaining that store credit is not acceptable to me, but he never replied back.

I would not recommend shopping at CD Tradepost as they use bait and switch techniques to overcharge customers, and when they are called out on it they ignore you.

I want the $6 that I was overcharged refunded to my card as store credit is of no use to me.

    Business Response

    Date: 07/13/2023

Customer felt like he was overcharged because of an old sticker that was partially covered by an updated and correct price. He sent harassing emails accusing our employees of stealing and our company of "fleecing customers".

Despite the inconsistencies in the customer's story (looking up a price on our website for a different item then he purchased to justify that he was overcharged and changing details as the emails progressed) it's apparent that there was a simple misunderstanding; the customer plainly bought something at a price that he was not expecting. If this was brought up at the time of checkout or before he left the store then we certainly would have been able to avoid this as we do not retain any of our customer's credit card information so we were unable to comply with his request for a cash refund, which is outside of our posted policy both at the register and printed on the reciept.

At a certain point we made it clear that we had offered the very best and reasonable resolution to this customers complaint and chose to no longer engage and continue the string of back and forth emails. We offered a store credit refund for the difference that the customer believed he was overcharged, which is above and beyond our policy. Unfortunately the customer was not happy with the resolution and decided to leave us bad reviews and file this complaint because he didn't get his way.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

We apparently have different definitions of the word “harassment”
as evidently CD Tradepost’s definition includes simply questioning
why an item had two separate price stickers with two different prices
on it. We will have to agree to disagree on that definition. Yes I
was mistaken when I originally said the price online was $12.99 as
the online price was for a different edition of the game; I
apologized when I realized my mistake.

    The issue is that
the front of the game case had $18.99 and it was partially peeled
back, with $13.99 under it. The back of the game had a sticker for
$13.99. Of course I have no proof of this other than the two
witnesses who were shopping with me as the employee removed the
stickers after charging me $18.99 yet left the stickers on the other
game and DVD I purchased. As the employee left the other items’
stickers on but removed the stickers from the game in question, I
felt that was an odd thing to do and I questioned if this was done
    innocently or deceptively.

    The CEO had also
said he was going to contact the store employee to find out what
happened but I do not know if he did. In his email response dated
June 22, the CEO stated “If there was a pricing error on the floor
that was identified at the register then we should have brought that
to your attention at that time to see if you still wanted to purchase
the game at the correct price.” Yet nothing was brought to my
attention at the time of purchase.

    In close, it is also
news to me that the CEO interpreted my email questions as harassment,
as he never informed me of that during the email conversation. He
chose to quit responding when I stated that a store credit was
unsatisfactory. Yes I did leave reviews of my experience at CD
Tradepost on other sites after he did not respond to my last email,
and I can only interpret that the CEO is retaliating by accusing me
    of harassment here.

Again, I request a refund (not store credit) of the price difference.

    Sincerely,

    **** *****
