We have tried to cancel our subscription, but we keep getting the paper and billed for it. This is even after we called and canceled it. Now they are threatening to go to collection if we don't pay the bill, for a paper we don't want.

They are crooks and do care about special needs individuals. My son has autism and does not understand computers. I only need the Sunday paper delivery but I'm forceful pay for digital access also. I have asked and pleaded on many occasions for just the Sunday paper subscription but am told sorry you have to pay for both..always told I could just have the digital subscription for a discounted price. WHAT DONT THEY UNDERSTAND..DO NOT WANT OR NEED THE DIGITAL SUBSCRIPTION

I will be cancelling my Eagle subscription because they lied to me about the cost of subscription. I have taken the paper off and on for years and appreciate local news. I have the digital subscription rate. At one point this fall it went up. I called to cancel and they offered me another rate. I took it and it lasted a month. This month they charged almost $20 with no notice. I will call them. I will cancel. I will not be back. The paper is just a thin shadow of its former self. It might as well be a regional edition of the Kansas City Star with two pages of local news. Sad ending for a once fine product.

Terrible interaction with customer service regarding pricing. I believe that my mother is paying astronomically high prices and was unable to gain any clarity about the charges.
She is receiving 6 day print + digital and paying 138/month. I cannot find any cost reference that high on the Wichita Eagle website. The website states 9.66/week and it does NOT indicate that this is an introductory price. That would equate to $502 per year. She is paying 3 times that amount at $1,656 per year.
Customer service attempted to explain that this was a premium account - which does not appear to exist. Then tried to explain to me that "as a long time subscriber you are receiving a discounted rate of $28.40 per week which offers a significant rate compared to the regular rate". Not a surprise that they were unable to quote the regular rate and also not a surprise that I can find NOTHING on line to reference a regular rate quote or anything that is above the 9.66/week.
I am disappointed in the Wichita Eagle --- my mother has been a loyal subscriber for over 40 years and truly enjoys receiving it. If nothing else they should be able to be transparent about the costs. The whole interaction made me feel extremely sad and protective for all of the people who may be falling prey to the excessive cost that she is putting up with.

The only reason there is one star is because I was forced to give at least one. After a lengthy conversation, I cancelled my subscription via a phone call on July 29. My credit card was removed from automatic renewal. My subscription ran out on December 18. I was contacted a couple of times for renewal and I never responded. In March, I received a bill for $131. I emailed customer service and explained the above. I received an automated reply that they would get back to me in the order that it was received. I never heard back from them. Today, I received said bill from a bill collection agency. Looking through the other reviews, this seems to be the way the paper currently operates. I wanted to see if I would miss a more local paper and then maybe resubscribe if I missed it. That will never happen and I am certainly going to encourage others to cancel. I cannot support a paper that uses underhanded business practices to try to stay in business.
