Tenants moved into duplex **** * ********* *** Wichita KS, 67208 on August 10th of 2024. Tenants were required to sign the lease before move in or seeing the apartment. Trusting the ownership, tenants blindly signed the lease for 12 months. However, from day one the duplex had cockroach infestations. This was reported and pest control came to take care of the pest issue. The tenants were never heled financially responsible for the for the pest control service due to it being a reported issue upon arriving to the duplex. The Landlord (****** ******** ************) covered the issue. This proves it was an issue upon arrival because in the lease it states the tenants are responsible for pests if that becomes an issue. Although, since the pests were there prior to arrival, the landlord payed for all services. However, the cockroaches were never gone as the services did not improve the issue. Tenants could not sleep or eat in the duplex due to the inhabitable living space.

On November 7, 2024 the tenants posted on the leasing portal to give a 30 day notice to the property management. The tenants gave two notices of the issues and the move out date on December 31, 2024 after three months were paid by the tenants prior to each of their move out dates.

Three months were paid by all tenants by December 31. However, the leasing portal is still charging rent and late fees. As well as calling tenants and emailing them personally about the money due. There is also a new tenant living in the duplex now starting at the beginning of January. It was promised to the previous tenants their names would be taken off the lease by the end of January. Especially now that a new tenant is now living there and paying rent. That did not happen and as of today, February 19, 2025, the previous tenants are still being charged. Late fees have been added on as well. The property management should have let the tenants leave once the pests were found, but legally the tenants did the buy out.

I was told two days before July 1st that my month-to-month lease would not be renewed and was given 30 days to find a new place after living at the residence for five years. The property was fine for the most part, with little repairs throughout the time I was there, but communication with the property management isn't always the easiest to get a hold of. I think that may be the issue for reaching out now about the remaining deposit balance of $435. The original amount would have been $625 but I had a current pay agreement with management and that was the remaining balance after I got the leave notice. The property was left on 8/05 with a deal from the company for a 4-day extension(at no extra cost) but I haven't been able to follow up with anyone on the deposit being returned.
