Their paperwork shows me paying twice for semen exams but they tell me they see how I can see that but I didn’t pay twice. But it shows it on their billing

    Business Response

    Date: 03/24/2025

    Good morning,

I am writing in response to the complaint filed by Mr. ******* ********* Mr. *********s complaint regarding being billing twice by Wichita Urology is inaccurate as he was not billed twice for the semen analysis. When *** ******** came in for his consult for his procedure, her signed an acknowledgement that Wichita Urology only offered Fellow Semen Analysis kits and he would be responsible for covering the $149.00 fee for this kit. After the procedure, *** ******** received a bill for the procedure with the related CPT code for the procedure he had. The CPT code description states that it is a "vasectomy w/ SA". *** ******** called and spoke with multiple members of our billing staff, our Billing Manager, **** ******* and myself (Director of Operations). We all explained to him that he was not being charged twice for the semen analysis. He was only being charged once, for the Fellow Semen Analysis kit, and that if our office offered SAs, it would be included in his service, as stated in the CPT, but as our office does not, he would be required to purchase the kit for his SA. If our office did offer this service, it would be included in the global coverage through his insurance and that is why it is showing on his bill per the CPT description.

There is documentation in Mr. *********s chart from each staff member who had these conversations with him as we tried to help him understand his bill and the Fellow SA service we offer.

Please reach out to me for any other documentation or questions.

    Thank you,

    ****** ******** ******** ** **********

My husband agreed at the beginning of November to have a vasectomy done on 11/21/24 through WUG and was given a quote on paper of ~$700 for the vasectomy. The day before the appointment Wichita Urological Group called and told us we will owe an additional $1200-$1400 at the appointment totaling around $2000 for the vasectomy. We have rearranged our work schedules, filed for PTO, arranged childcare and their billing department claims “they just found out” it would be that much and tried to strong arm us into paying. I spoke with members of the front desk, multiple members of their billing department, and was promised a call back by their clinical manager that never happened. It was very deceitful to change the amount of the service the day before the service. Looking at the Google reviews in the last month it looks like they have increased the charges at the time of the appointment on other people as well. Vasectomy cancelled. Services NOT received. Requested a refund of $225 in charges to the clinic and billing refused saying they could not release the funds.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 11/21/2024

Clinical manager called me back late afternoon of 11/20 and apologized and offered to keep the charge the same as the estimate we were originally given and to have my husband come in on 11/21 for his vasectomy as previously scheduled. We accepted this offer and consider the issue RESOLVED. Thank you.
