    Business Response

    Date: 11/04/2024

When we provided the original estimate, we told the customer that this was a limited time offer because the units we were quoting were being phased out and it could take some time to get them. The first system arrived damaged we had to return it and then we had to wait months on the second one by the time the second one it came in all of the additional materials needed to complete the job  such as refrigerant, copper refrigerant lines & wiring, Had seen a significant increase in price from the time of our original quote. We had informed her during the original quote Process that if this happened, we would have to adjust the price. We called her when the new unit came in. We told her how the other materials had increased in price because it had been so many months waiting on the second compressor section. She even indicated to our estimator that she thought it was a really low price to begin with, and she wondered how we were even going to be able to do it for that, and she had indicated that we had never even came and looked at it when we gave her a quote. That information was untrue because we had also given her an additional quote for a booster fan that she had requested and the same guy that gave her. The original quote was the one that gave her the booster fan quote, but she refused the quote which showed that he had been there, and he had looked at it when he gave her the quote that she later accepted.  She refused to pay any additional cost told us she was gonna call the Better Business Bureau and hung up, we refunded her total deposit and wished her well . We are unable to complete the work because of the rise in the cost of materials. The Equipment we had to wait on was coming from overseas and there was a Dock strike that led to part of the delay. We had given her a choice to pay for the cost increase of materials & complete the installation with a new revised contract but she refused.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

The booster fan was before the estimate.they never said anything about a limited time offer .when the men came out in October to see where they was going to set the outside unit and where they was going to put the inside units plus run the wires then they called back later to say that they had under estimated the job and it would cost more money is the only time they said anything about anything. And that is when I said I would call the bbb had a sign contract I just thought they should had Honored it

An order for new Geothermal unit was placed on 12/30/2022 and deposit for $18,060 was giving (70% down). Owner stated that unit would be built in 3 weeks, one week for shipping and installed upon receiving unit in 4-6 weeks. Owner was contacted 5 weeks later (Feb) at ask about update and I was informed there was a delay in production with no estimated shipping date. I contact owner again in March and was informed that all staff was out with COVID (for 3 weeks), followed by a family emergency and they could not provide any further details about arrival date of unit. I contacted again towards the end of March and requested that documentation from the supplier regarding details on arrival of unit and to unsure unit had been ordered. No documentation was provided. After a month of requesting documentation and proof that unit was ordered and receiving no documentation we cancelled our contract and requested a refund. I was told 30 days before they would provide refund and a restocking fee would be charged. I agreed as long as we were shown the requested documentation that unit was ordered along with proof of restocking fee. After 30 days the owner refused to provide refund and blocked my number after I continued to inquire about a refund. The Cadco local business office is not longer staffed or open to public on two visits. When you call, you no longer get a receptionist, just an answering service. The owner has now given me a ultimatum that I must accept his EXPIRING refund offer of $15,500 by May 30th (4 days), but refused to provide an actual date for the refund and will not put his offer in writing with explanation of why he is charging $2,560 for no work done or proof that the unit was even ordered, now with no mention of restocking fee. My financial institution has now been contacted regarding fraudulent charges and fees as we have paid for a service that has not been provided and there is no proof that any work has been performed or a geothermal unit ordered.
