    Complaint Against ** ********** & Local Movers-Ashland

    Complaint Against: ** ********** (booking company) & Local Movers-Ashland (hired mover)

    On 02/21/2025, we hired ** ********** to coordinate a local move. They subcontracted Local Movers-Ashland, but the service was unprofessional and caused significant damage to both our rented property and furniture.

    Issues with the Move:
    1. Improper Staffing & Delays – Only one mover ****** initially arrived despite it being a two-person job. After confirming we had heavy furniture, he left and returned hours later with another worker *********.
    2. Property & Furniture Damage – They damaged multiple pieces, including:
    • A dresser with a punch mark on the back and a carved letter “M” on the top.
    • Other furniture left wobbly and unstable.
    • Beds assembled incorrectly, making them unsafe.
    • Stairwell damage at the new location.
    3. Unprofessional Behavior – They shouted profanities, threatened to quit, and pressured us multiple times for tips.
    4. Harassment After the Move – Their truck broke down, and they repeatedly pressured us to help jump-start it, despite multiple attempts. We felt uncomfortable and left for several hours, only to find them still outside our home. Another worker (Josh) later arrived with a tow truck and assured us they would fix the damages, but they never followed through.
    5. Denial of Responsibility – Despite providing evidence, Local Movers-Ashland denied causing the damage, and ** ********** refused to take responsibility, even falsely claiming they had never worked with us.

    Desired Resolution:
    • A full refund for the moving service due to damages and unprofessionalism.
    • Compensation for the damaged furniture or repairs.
    • A written response acknowledging the complaint and how they plan to prevent this from happening to other customers.

    This was an incredibly stressful experience, and we expect accountability from both companies involved.

    We utilized the Local Movers moving company in February 2025 to relocate from Ohio to Virginia. The staff sent to move us were polite but that is the end of the positive aspects of the move. The truck they brought was not large enough for the items they agreed to move. Our furniture was shoved into the truck and several items were broken upon arrival at the destination. They were also missing several larger items and some electronics. I attempted to reach out to the owner to inform him of the damaged and missing items. After the initial conversation he stopped answering any calls and will not reply to texts or emails. Being in the military for 20 years we moved numerous times. All other companies we utilized took care of any issue and provided assistance with any claims. The Local Movers and ***** **** definitely do not deserve to continue to operate a business.

    Contracted them to move a hot tub. One week prior I personally drained and inspected it per the manual. They showed up the day of at my mother in laws house and loaded it up on a trailer. They removed the side and corner panels, and had the cover underneath the tub. Long story short after they delivered it and "set it up", it took me two hours to unscrew what they did. These "experts" had damaged the cover during the transport, and when they put it "back together" they:
    1) Had the corner pieces in the wrong locations
    2) Had the corner pieces upside down
    3) Lights had been disconnected and cover panels reinstalled with the lights NOT being reconnected
    4) One side panel had been torn
    5) Pins for the Handicap rail not reinstalled/missing
    6) Pins for the cover holder not reinstalled/missing
    7) Side panel screws cross threaded
    8) Side panel screw missing
    9) Cover holder not reinstalled
    I am a disabled veteran, and cannot afford to make all of these things right after paying them for what should have been a painless experience. They are now insisting on "before" photos before fixing their screw-ups. If they were a legit, insured business, why didnt THEY take "before" photos?? I will edit this if they do the right thing, but barring that I will be submitting with the Better Business Bureau next. Also am cancelling the check I wrote for their tip if I can. Stay away until I edit this, IF I do.

    Update: I can find no business records for this company in the tri-states.
