On November 19th 2024 I was pulled over and arrested for outstanding warrants and the police contacted Ellis towing to impound a Blue 2005 Nissan maxima. I did 30 days in jail. My wife and my daughter tried to see about getting my personal property from the car since I do travel for work and I was coming home and was doing a few things before heading home for the holidays. They said the owner of the vehicle had to release the property. Which my wife was informed whose name the car came under and she made calls and then contacted the car lot that sold the car to my sister and basically became a waiting game. Here it is 30 days later and when I went to get my personal belongings I was told either pay them 1700 or I would not be getting anything from the car. But I also was informed they will sell the car on January 4th. All I want is my clothing's items.Business Response

A Nissan Maxima was impounded by the the ****** ****** ******* on 11/19/2024. The license tag on the vehicle was a expired Indiana tag. Attached is the towing and storage lien law for Kentucky. The complainant was advised they would need proof of ownership- either a current registration or title to have access to the said vehicle. The complainant could not provide proof of ownership. Under Kentucky law only the registered owner can have access to the vehicle. With out the bill being paid the only items that can be removed are the items on the Kentucky storage lien law and only by the registered owner. The complainant that tried to get access to the said vehicle without any proof of ownership only wanted personal items, there was not intent to retrieve the vehicle.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: no one would sit down and let me show proof where my sister bought the car and get the proof of a notarized document that as soon as I could go to the car lot that she bought it from to get the title since I was the only one she named to get the car and show proof of anything. The car lot was suppose to sent the title to my sister and didn't comply. The car was still registered with the car lot Al it took to prove that was a call to Indiana motor vehicle clerk. I lost sentimental items along with personal belongings and I'm just relieved I left my mom's remains with my friend.
I ***** **** replied but I also wanted to add they never gave me a paper to see if the car lot in Indiana sign the document. They knew I was locked up for 30 days. Anyone can check jail tracker. They also were informed my sister is in the nursing home and on hospice care. The car lot in Indiana and my sister failed to complete all the paperwork for the transfer of the vehicle into her name but I have proof where she paid for it. There is also a notarized document that my sister signed that the car belongs to me. I feel Ellis let their employees go thru the car and took the belongings from it and to cover it up they just didn't want me to get my items from the car.Sincerely,

On 11/18/2023, Ellis Towing was called by Bullitt County E-911 to respond to a overturned camper at the 109mm NB I-65. The camper was in a construction zone and had been involved in a multiple vehicle accident. At the time E-911 dispatch advised this was a huge mess and the camper and its contents were scattered over a large area. Upon arrival, the scene coordinator met with law enforcement for removal of the other vehicles involved and to assess the camper. The camper and its debris were blocking one lane of I-65. At that time all debris had to be moved to open the federal highway. The debris was scattered over approx 1000' off a hillside and one the side of the interstate , KY required clean up off all debris. Several employee's had to pick up debris up and down the interstate and up the hillside. At that time the owners of the camper were on scene for over 2 hours and were going through there belongings.. After the 2hrs a official from the state of KY advised they need to stop and we need to get everything completely clean up and get off the interstate. We did our best to separate there personal belongings from the camper. On 11/21/23 the owner signed in at our office to go through the dumpsters and get what he wanted. The adjuster with Progressive Insurance came to our location, to take pictures and access the claim. He advised it all was a complete loss and needed to be disposed of. The owners came back again, and looked through there belongings a second time, looking for paperwork and other personal belongings. The adjuster advised he would be contacting the owners and advise them of the coverage. The containers were disposed of on 12/14/2023 at he direction of Progressive Insurance. The adjuster had taken many photos while he was at our location.Customer Answer

On January 20th my 1999 grand am se was towed by wrecker from my job site by Ellis Towing due to my fuel pump went out. When the driver slide the bars under my vehicle he said Oh! (Not knowing what that meant at the time) it was towed to my residence until January 31st it was towed again by Ellis Towing on a rollback this time to the mechanic who fixed the fuel. Nothing was wrong with my vehicle other than the fuel pump prior to both of these tows. When the driver was taking my vehicle off the rowback my brother and the mechanic heard the driver state I'm going to do this the quick way of getting it off. So when my mechanic was finished with the fuel pump he tried to drive it and it was shaking really bad and he stated the front right tire on the passenger side was real loose. I asked him what had happened to my vehicle and he said between one of the tows the driver had damaged the rack n pinion which wasn't damaged before my vehicle was towed. On Feb 5th I contacted the company that evening to let them know what had happened. I had to have my vehicle towed back to my residence by a different Towing company because I didn't want Ellis to tow it again. Travis the claims man told my brother to tell me to get an estimate on my vehicle and bring it too him and we did just that. When the estimate was 1,130 he said he wanted to see my vehicle and get pictures I didn't have a problem with that but we needed to be present I told the lady at the office we could meet him on Tuesday February 13th at 3pm but he decided to go Monday February 12th on his own to where I had it towed to get the estimate. Then he calls and leave me a voice message on my phone stating it wasn't the drivers fault and they wasn't going to pay to have my vehicle fixed. Like I stated nothing was wrong with my vehicle when I had it towed in the beginning but the fuel pump! So what happened to my rack n pinion when Ellis Towing towed my vehicle? I hope someone can help me get this solved. Thank youBusiness Response

In response to the second letter of rejecting the first response from Ellis Towing. On the second complaint is she claiming the damage was done by the wrecker or the roll back (carrier). A 1999 Pontiac Grand Am can be towed by either a wrecker or a roll back (carrier). The part on the car she is claiming is damaged (rack & pinion) is not possible for any of the tow equipment to reach. She is claiming the passenger side tire is loose. The vehicle was hooked up on the drivers side. While the repair shop, the claimant had her car towed to ( of her choosing) had the vehicle on the lift, we went to check the claimed damage, took pictures, and was advised by the mechanic that we did not cause any damage to the vehicle. We then advised the claimant.Customer Answer
