This is my landlord/property management that I rent through. The property that my daughter and I were living at has rats. I found out at the beginning of the summer when they started to come into my home. I didn’t report the issue right away as i thought it was just one rat. We caught and killed that rat and more started to just come from nowhere. I informed them and they sent out an exterminator right away. The issue is that she (Lisa) tried to make it seem as if she had no idea that her property had this issue. She told me that she got someone out as soon as possible, which she did but what she didn’t tell me was that she had already been informed by current tenants. I’m in apartment C. The resident in apartment A had already moved out and the people in apartment B (that have 3 small children) told me
That that they had been reporting the issue with no results. Idk if there’s any truth to that but that’s what was said. My daughter and I immediately vacated and told her that we would still pay rent but refuse to stay there. She (Lisa) told another property management company that I broke my lease with them, resulting in my getting denied in finding another place to live. This situation had been stressful.

The day ******** contacted us, we sent out our exterminator, which was the first time we heard about it.  The tenants in Unit B never contacted us about the issues.  I can assure you if we had of know about the issue then we would have taken care of it. Unit A did not move out because of rats, he moved to another city.  Our exterminator went out and inspected each unit in her building and she and unit B are the only two that had rats.

******** should have contacted us as soon as she saw the first one and we would have gotten someone out immediately.  Two days after ******** let us know about the rats she told us she was moving out due to the rats and let us know it had been going on since the summer.  Again, we cannot take of something that we know nothing about.  ******** was told that she did not give us any time to take care of the issue and that she would be responsible for rent until the end of her lease.  We gave her the opportunity to clean the place up and told her if we got the unit rented then she would not be responsible for rent once the unit was rented,  We sent her detailed move out instructions in a move out email.  ******** failed to do any of the cleaning and left the apartment in horrible shape.  I have plenty of pictures of the condition of the move out but was not able to attach them.  I have attached the text conversation that we had with her along with the move out email that was sent to her.

As far as her being denied for another apartment, I was not the only factor.  I did tell them that she would be breaking her lease, but I also told them that she had been a good tenant and she paid on time.  The apartment that she applied for was a sister company to the apartment complex that she lived in before she came to live with us.  She left that apartment in bad shape and had been sent to collections due to her move out charges.
