    When the air conditioning at my business wasn't working, I contacted BME for a diagnostic and repair visit. The unit is less than 5 years old. The repair man came to assess the situation and informed me I would need a new compressor. He was here no longer than 30 minutes and left after telling me I would have a quote for a new air compressor by the end of the business day. I called BME just before 5pm when I hadn't heard anything back, and they were closed. A lady did call me after hours from her home, but she didn't have access to the information and said she would be in touch promptly the next morning. (Five days later, I was emailed a quote.) When I didn't hear from BME the next morning, I called another company. They arrived the same day, fixed the problem, which was not the compressor, and charged me $160. Two weeks later, I received an invoice from BME for $409. I called promptly thinking this had to be a mistake. There was never any repair done, just a diagnostic service call. After all, I had a maintenance contract with BME and thought we had a good relationship. I ended up speaking to the service manager, who promised to call me back after trying to adjust the bill. I never received a return call until I was contacted several weeks later by their collections department. After trying to resolve this conflict with them through several emails, they would not budge, and told me I owe $409 for a less than 30 minute service call, in which the wrong problem was diagnosed. What a huge disappointment. I like to support local businesses but not when I'm treated this way.
