Last year I went to the Sanitas location in Doral. After seeing the PCP, I also saw *** ***** ******** At the time, a $20 co-pay was due. A few days prior, I had visited the ER. The claim for that visit, having been processed, would have reflected that my deductible for the year was met, and that no further out-of-pocket costs were due. However, as the claim had not been processed, this was not reflected at the time of the visit with *** *******. In an effort to avoid an overpayment, and having to reach out for a refund, I explained this to the staff members, and they advised that they would go ahead and bill, if in-fact it was due. Just as I had indicated, the claim for the ER was properly processed, and the visit to *** ******* was paid at a rate of 100% of contracted costs, and no co-payment was due. However, Sanitas still went ahead and sent a bill. At that time, I went ahead and reached out, speaking to ******* ******** She advised that I should send her a copy of the Explanation of Benefits. In addition to sending this via email, I also faxed it in. In most businesses, the goal is to not give clear, concise, and definitive answers as to when something like this will receive a reply, nor to be connected with the person who ultimately has the answer. While the staff is not to blame, a better structure is warranted. One in which the individual can receive these answers, and where someone takes ownership of a problem and agrees to follow through with a follow up. Once again, I have received the same bill. Given that this is something paid to you by the insurance company, Florida Blue, Adiantum is now billing for a service that is not due. At no time was a visit rendered where a co-payment was ULTIMATELY due. Therefore, this is improper and illegal. Medical facilities are overseen by the Florida Dept of Agriculture & Consumer Services. My next step will be to contact them.
