We booked an Alaska cruise with Unlimited Leisure Travel and full payment was made in March of 2022. On the pamphlet that was sent it clearly stated "Airfare was included in the price of the cruise. Then in March, we were told we would need to make our own plane reservations, but he would reimburse us for the price of the airplane ticket that he had budgeted in the original price of the cruise, which was $500.00. As of this date I have not received by $500.00 and several others on the trip have not, but some of the people have received their money.
We have sent him e-mails, texts, left him phone messages and certified letters, but we are not getting a response. We can't understand why he selected some to receive their and others not. Needless to say, we are very upset. Most of us are on a fixed income and we are needing this money to pay off our credit card debt, that we encountered from the trip.
We feel like if we don't take some sort of action and make a complaint, we may never get the $500.00 returned to us.
I personally like I have been discriminated against by, *** ****** and ****** ******, the owners of the company. I do hope you will be able to help us.

    Business Response

I am responding in regards to Mrs. ******** complaint. I put together a trip for the ** *** ***** *******. This was booked through ********* ****** ****. The original quote from ********* was for $500 for airfare, on April 8th ********* called and advised they hadn't booked airfare, after spending roughly 16 hours on the phone trying to get this issue resolved, they advised that they could only do flights that would be around the $900 rate. I had called several airlines and doing after the 60 day mark they couldn't do much better. I rushed into a decision to send out an email and let everyone know what was going on. Email was senylt on April 9th, not March. In the email I rushed into a decision to issue refunds immediately without taking a couple days to process the situation.  That was my mistake. I was traveling on April 9th and wasn't available.  As soon as I got home I wrote checks to everyone, ** ******** the next day seeing the pile trying to help put them in the mail without stamps. After realizing what had happened, I started to make a contingency plan. I had already paid ********* about $23000 overpayment, I requested a refund that never got processed. After checking the accounts, I had 2 choices, 1. refund everyone immediately, then they would have to pay for their own transportation and hotel in Seattle,  2. I can take care of the hotel and transportation, and pay out as many as I could till I got the refund for the overpayment made. I chose option 2. Was this the right choice, we will never know. I rewrote checks based on when they made their reservation. I even took money out of my personal account to pay more people. I just received the check this morning July 27th. So as soon as it clears the bank checks will be mailed. My plans are Friday to Monday.

The next issue on this complaint.  Discrimination,  to me this is the most serious claim of the bunch, and being there is no detailed claim, I can't even start to defend a non existence claim. It's can't be because she's a women, being over 90%of the ones on the trip were women, it can't be because she is a senior citzen because over 90% we're senior citizens,  it can't be because she is a member of the ***** ** ******* ***** because my family are all members and over 95% on the trip are members, it can't be because she is white because 100% of the travelers on the trip were white. She needs to explain her reasoning behind an accusation of saying someone is Discriminating against you rather than just accessing them.

I explained to everyone as soon as ********* gave me back the money I would give it to them. I have never had any intentions of taking anyone's money ourbruining anyone's life by spreading false rumors. I had 2 groupd start a criminal investigation that both were dismissed in the last couple days for false claims. So by instructions of a lawyer, I was advised not to talk to anyone so I wasn't accused of interference in an investigation.  That is why I couldn't respond to her calls, emails and text. Although I did talk to her last week regarding this situation.

I strated my business in 2017, was shut down in 2020 because of Covid, started back up last year and wanted to help them have a trip that was affordable,  so being a member of ****, I didn't charge them the Travel Agent fee, worked 1000's of hours for free to help them. Spent over $30000 of my money so they wouldn't have to pay extra for this trip because of hidden fees that ********* didn't tell us when booking, a d the other issues that came up. Would I have done things differently,  yes, but I would still treat everyone with respect being they are from the same organization I am from.

I take my business very serious, being that someday I will retire and do this full time. If there is anything else I can do or any questions I can answer, please don't hesitate to call or email.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I will not be satisfied with my complaint until I and others in our group receive the $500. that we were promised.  I still am having a problem why some were selected to receive their refund quickly and some of us are still waiting for our refund.  It just appeared to me the company showed favoritism.  Hopefully, we will get our refund as stated in the response from Unlimited Travel. Thank you for your help.

    Regards,
