We were living in AZ and wanted to relocate to be near family in Kentucky. We saw a home on Zillow that looked beautiful 340 Tranquil Ln , Cynthiana KY on 10/8/23 and flew to Ky immediately, offered full price (485k) and signed a contract with the builder saying the home would be complete by 11/30/23. We also paid 10k additional for a few upgrades. With the date given to us,, by the Builder, we put our AZ house on the market at the end of November. Our AZ house sold quickly and we signed a contract to be out of the AZ house on January 9th. We had our cars and furniture shipped to KY in hopes that Magnus Homes would finally honor a date by which we could close on our new home ….. this was after MANY excuses and many delays. We were told we could expect to close on January 19th. So, we left AZ with a truck towing a camper and two large dogs. On the 2nd day of travel (this builder was very aware of the fact that we were going to have to live in our camper when we arrived in Ky a week prior to the closing) we were informed that a major oversight had just surfaced??? The septic lines could not be buried until the dirt brought in, by the builder, had been in place for a year (mid to late February of 2024). At that point we decided that this builder had been dishonest and full of way too many excuses for us to believe ANYTHING he said. The end result was that we cancelled our contract, ( Magnus was happy to keep our money) and now on January 13th, will be starting the home search from scratch. This ordeal is costing us a ton of money to store our furniture and we will be either paying alot for hotel stays or, weather permitting, staying in our camper with our 2 dogs until we find another's home. It should also be noted that Magnus Homes had yet to reach out to apologize or offer to help in anyway by refunding us at least some of our money.. That said, they wasted no time (less than 15 minutes after the contract was cancelled) to relist the home for a higher price… 499k.
