I had went in and pawned a pistol that was given to me by my grandfather before he passed away . and when I went to redeem it I paid , they told me that my background was delayed. 5 days later I didn’t hear from them so I called they had told me I was denied . I was denied because I forgot I was on diversion for child support I thought once I paid it and no longer had to pay I would be off of it but I was wrong. That’s fine idc . But being that it is a sentimental gun from my grandfather who passed I asked if my grandmother or someone else in my family can come and retrieve the gun and keep it in there possession as it cannot be replaced . They told me they contacted the atf and they told them no to not do the transfer and I’ve asked for that atf phone number multiple times and have yet to get it . The pawn shop told me they are aware they are allowed to do the transfer but they don’t feel comfortable. They have no reason to not transfer the firearm to an Eligible family member that can fill the paperwork out and pass a background check . Sure they can say it’s a “straw purchase” but they have done this to multiple people I have read all bad reviews about them doing this to many many many people . My family just want to be able to get that gun back bc it can’t be replaced . That’s how they keep all these peoples guns because they want to say every single one they believe is a “straw purchase” I don’t see how they can keep getting away with that . If you can please help . Thank you!

We contacted the ATF personally, they advised us not to move forward with this transaction. The complainee has been very difficult to work with and disrespectful.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:
I was trying to be as nice as possible as it was my fault that I had forgotten I was on diversion for child support from 3 years ago because I paid it and no longer pay. That was my grandfathers who passed away pistol that he had given me. If I would have known I was still on diversion I wouldn’t have pawned it to begin with . I have contacted them nicely and asked if I could have a 3rd party pick it up. As it is a memory of my grandfather from my whole family not just me.  I had informed them the pistol would NOT be transferred to me . Even tho it states on there website and he had stated to me that it is possible but they just don’t feel comfortable I am not ok with that. As long as someone in my family could pass the background I don’t see why they wouldn’t allow them to pick it up. That gun is very special to my family not just me. My family wants it. I have asked for the ATF agent name so I could contact them myself and they refused to give it to me. I have seen multiple bad reviews of this happening to multiple people. All I’m asking if there is any way possible that someone in my family  could pick the pistol up themselves and take possession of it if they can pass a background it’s legal . That’s all I want . It was not intended to happen and if it wasn’t a memory of my grandfather who died I could careless about the pistol . I have already paid my pawn ticket when I went to redeem it . Thank you!
    Sincerely,
