Shane Smith took a check from us for $9300 on May 13 of this year which he said stated was half of the amount he needed in order to buy doors and windows and other materials to do remodeling work on our home. he barely finished the first job leaving us with an exposed exterior wall and none of the interior drywall done. He never got around to starting any of the other work. As a result we have had to hire several other contractors to finish the siding work and several other interior parts of the job and now pay a second time for work that he never did. He has failed to show after promising to be here close to a dozen times and has been dishonest about placing orders for materials, which I was able to confirm with the building supply company. He is resorted to ignoring my calls and not answering his phone and no matter how reasonable I try to be he has taken our money and left us hanging. We unfortunately have found out through neighbors and other individuals in our community that this seems to be a pattern with him. We just want our money back but yet still pay him for the very small amount that is due him for the partial job that he did too. At this point we have now also contacted an attorney to find out what kind of recourse we have in the matter. I am just trying to find a peaceful and reasonable resolution to getting our money back so that we can get the work done in our home with someone that we can trust.
