My dad was a customer of Applachian Propane. He passed away 08/04/24. My husband contacted Applachian Propane to come pick up their equipment. Their driver told my husband to call their office because there was propane in the tank and we may be entitled to a refund. I called their office and was told by Linda that yes we were entitled to a refund. I would need to send the death certificate and proof that I was administrator of the estate and she would mail the check. I sent these things on Sept 19, 2024. I also called to let Linda know I had mailed everything to her attention. She said once she received it she’d mail a check right out. I never did receive anything so finally I called back and I have called diligently since and today is March 14, 2025 and still no check. I called today and she said she hadn’t had time to mail it. I’ve heard every excuse from she had a stroke, she forgot, and she’s been too busy to take care of it. I’m tired of all of her excuses. Linda needs to do her job and mail the check. She should be really embarrassed to treat customers this way. I would never do business with them or recommend them to anyone I know. Lastly, I have no idea how much money we are even talking about but it doesn’t matter, what matters is it’s my daddy’s hard earned money and it’s due his family.

On February 15th, the area of hazard kentucky flooded. My electricity and water went off. I have a whole home generator that I use propane tanks for that was purchased from appalachian propane. I had never had to use these before, I have been fortunate. On February 17th, I called appalachian propane to tell them that I needed someone to come and make sure I had enough propane to cover me in case the electric didnt come back on for days, I was asked if I was sure I had an account there, I told her yes I had been paying a bill for years, she said ok, took my name and said we will get to you ASAP! February 19th rolled around, I still had no one come to my house, I called again to tell them I needed my propane checked, it had snowed at this point. I was told they couldn't do anything for me. So, luckily my power came back on the next day, but my propane was at 20 and 15%. I called back on the 24th, and was told that since I hadn't utilized my tanks much in the years I had them, they didn't want to fill them. This was during a declared disaster in our area and state. It is the 26th and I am yet to get my tanks filled by this company. This is totally unacceptable. I would like my money back that I have paid for their services over the years since they feel that I hadn't utilized their tanks and I would like to have the tanks removed and get another company.

      Business Response

      Date: 03/10/2025

March 4, 2025 Dear Representative of the Better Business Bureau, Inc. My name is ******* ******* and I own Appalachian Propane, Inc. I received a complaint, #********* on March 3, 2025. The customer subject, hereafter referred to as "CS" had 2 - 120lb propane tanks installed and filled in June 2020. That was four years and nine months ago. She never requested a refill in that period of time. My office personnel indicated that she had called sometime in mid February 2025 requesting a site visit to access her potential of running out of propane in case her electricity went out. I was in my office on February 26, 2025 when a male individual called. I talked to him and he said that he was the uncle of CS. I told him I would deliver propane as soon as I could. That afternoon I delivered the propane. One tank held 68.2 gallon (23.2% full) and the other tank held 58.1 gallons (31.6% full). I have included a copy pf the delivery ticket. I feel that my company has fulfilled the obligation to the customer. As a proposal of action in response to the complaint, I would be willing to sell the tanks to the customer at the current market price or pick up our tanks after they are empty. A male individual was there during the fill process. Please let me know if I can be of any additional assistance or provide further clarification.

      Respectfully submitted,

      ******* ** *******

      ******* ** *******, President Appalachian Propane, Inc.
