      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: The sub-contractor or
company didn’t know the mistake was made until I showed up at home sick from work that day and
questioned what was going on. I tried speaking to the gentle men working but none of them spoke
English and had to call someone to talk with me. I let them know I wasn’t supposed to be getting a new
roof, at that time they figured out they were supposed to be at my neighbor’s house. I spoke with the
manager of JW Roofing and he had to call his boss ** to find out how they were going to fix the
situation. After speaking with ** multiple times about replacing my roof, it was done several days later. I
never spoke to anyone other than ** and he never gave me the name of the company that made the
error. ** told me in person he would give me an invoice with a zero total amount since I didn’t pay
anything. The invoice will show what they actually replaced on my roof and the W9 let’s my insurance
company know they are a real roofing company.
Please let me know if you need any more information.

      Sincerely,

      ***** *******

      Business Response

      Date: 03/29/2023

JW Roofing LLC had a job with the address of ***** ****** **** the address that I sent to my roofing sub contractors on the work order stated ******  The sub contractor is a licensed and insured company that does some of our roofing for us.  When the address was relayed from that business owner to his employees, the address was incorrectly stated as ******  Before this error was caught, his crew began tearing off the shingles at 11806.  The owner of that business then realized the mistake and sent his crew to the correct address and notified me.  When I arrived I went to ** ******* and let her know that I would make sure that her roof was taken care of.
I made sure that the material was ordered and delivered for the sub contractor to replace her entire roof, and not just the shingles that were mistakenly removed.  The sub contractor then replaced her roof and paid me for the shingles.
The only role that my company had in this was to make sure that the sub contractor corrected his mistake.
*** ******* is now requesting an invoice and W9 for a job that was not put on by my company which to do so would be fraudulent in its own right.  My company went over and beyond to make sure *** ********* roof was taken care of.  We were honest and upfront, even though this had nothing to do with us.
*** ******* received an entire new roof, at no charge.  She was also given the name of the company that made the error to get an invoice and their W9.  However, she refuses to contact them.

      *** ********

You are correct in the fact that an error was made and it was not caught until you came home from work.  However, that error was not on the part of JW Roofing. As previously stated, the correct address was given to the sub contractor who owns his own company.  The mistake was then between that owner and his employees.  The only reason JW Roofing is involved is because we tried to help make a terrible situation better, both for you and the other company.  During which time, you were given the name of the company that was responsible.

During initial contact with you, before anyone knew exactly what happened or who was responsible for the address mix up, you were told that you would get a contract showing a zero amount.  Once I was able to trace through the process, I then realized it was not the mistake of JW Roofing, I still made sure to facilitate the other company providing you a new roof.  This roof was not contracted, nor installed by JW Roofing and under advisement of counsel would be fraudulent in providing you the invoice that you are requesting.

Being in this business for many years, we know property insurance very well.  However, I did double check with several different carriers and a zero invoice is not necessary to obtain updated coverage.  Updated coverage can be obtained by simply notifying your agent and having a physical inspection done either by an adjuster or by your agent.

In regards to the requested W-9.  According to the same carriers we spoke to, a W-9 is not used in this instance for anything.  A W-9 is used in the case of income being  paid, real estate transactions, etc, in order to make sure the TIN is correct.  Which is not applicable in this situation.

As far as JW Roofing is concerned, we have gone over and above to rectify this situation.  However, if this continues to be an issue we will have no other option but to turn this over to our legal counsel.
