Took a pair of used(but extremely nice condition) gucci loafers. This was my first time doing business with them, and the lady said she'd be able to sell them quickly given their condition. I called to check on the status of the item so I could pick up and sell on ****, and she told me that since I did not pickup the items within the 90 day window, the shoes are now property of the store. How in the world can this be legal for a consignment shop to do?

I took the shoes in around August/Sept of 2024. The shoes should sell for $300 or so. The store is not letting me pick them up, or anything. Can't imagine the amount of older people that get scammed by this consignment shop

    Business Response

The client  brought three (3) pairs of men's designer shoes  to consign on August 26, 2024. At the drop off we had the client read and sign our consignor agreement which has been in place for thirty three (33). Said contract has been attached.

We informed him that the shoes would have to be authenticated and there would be a fee of $25.00 per shoe. Which we have absorbed since the shoes did not sell on his account.

The client left the items with us to authenticate and then had to be called days later to come in and pick up which he came in on 9/6/2024.

After discussing with the client how much they were evaluated for and what we could price them at and his share from the sale, he decided to leave one pair with us. The loafers were a nice pair of men's loafers and should have sold quickly as we try and promote them over all forms of social media to reach a broad audience.

On 3/27/2025 client called to inquire about his shoes and wanted to come pick them up. I explained to him that they had expired off of his account as per the contract terms and that I was looking at his contract to verify. I was informed that I did not read it to him as he knew it. After being told that our business was a joke, a scam and we were pieces of s... I ended the conversation and wished him a good day. After about 30 minutes  client called back and asked for a copy of his contract to be emailed which  I did.

If the client would have called and been kinder and and admitted some fault and grace we would have been willing to work something out with him, instead he has chosen this alternative.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: they offered no resolution, and they are running a scam.  How is this practice allowed, claiming people's property?

I did speak with the lady over the phone, believe her name was ****** and she repeatedly just said "they are now property of the store." I asked to somehow buy them back or pay a fee to get them, but she said the same response, and continued to stick to that response, which is why I got frustrated. I do apologize, but I truly believe they are running a scam with this business practice.  I tried and tried for a resolution and did not get anywhere.  I would like the shoes back if at all possible.

    Sincerely,
