I recently needed a dimmer switch installed and ended up choosing Doctor Electric from other electrical businesses via me submitting my information on Angie (Angie's List). When I contacted Doctor Electric, I was told there was a $69.00 "Service Fee" for the installation. (By the way, your phone call IS recorded and if I'm not mistaken, I was not told this at the beginning of my call). Also, when the technician came, AFTER he told me about the "Service Fee", the total for my 1 dimmer switch install came to around $369.00 not including tax. When I submitted my information on Angie, I stated everything I wanted to have done. I "assumed" Doctor Electric received this same information and the price I was given ($69.00) was the price for the work I wanted done. Maybe the term "Service Fee" threw me off especially after I had already entered information on Angie. I would suggest instead of calling it a SERVICE FEE, you call it a DIAGNOSTIC FEE/CHARGE instead. If I had heard the term "Diagnostic Fee/Charge", I would have realized they were going to charge me $69.00 JUST to come and look at my issue. Or better yet, call it BOTH, a Service-Diagnostic charge/fee. I called Doctor Electric the same day the technician came to my residence to make a complaint on the "Service Fee" charge. It was around 2 weeks later that I heard back from Dr Electric and that was after I sent email stating my "Service Fee" displeasure. I had submitted a dispute on my credit card, but after my conversation with Dr Electric I released it because they did state there was a "Service Fee" on the recorded call which I could not dispute. In the end, I spoke with the office manager, but I was not satisfied with the outcome. Therefore, I write this to let others know to beware you are being recorded, be CAUTIOUS if you are working thru the Angie website, the prices are HIGH and the "Service Fee" is really a "Diagnostic Fee/Charge" you must pay, just for them to come to look at your issue,
