This complaint is about a repair done in the past year. A1 Roofing replaced my roof in 2020, for which I paid $17,585. *** **** Thompson from A1Roofing in Lexington left the project with a leak caused by his workers breaking a pipe, which he admitted. After several months and thanks to your intervention, he came to fix the bad job done in the roof of the second floor, The leak reappeared in the same place this January; water falling on my bed. This is a complaint about A1Roofing job in January. *** ******** came to my bedroom and verbalized and texted multiple excuses, such as poor ventilation, lack of soffits, etc. Once those excuses were discarded, he then came with the demand that I call someone to open a hole in the ceiling at the time it was raining (because he did not do ceilings) and call him to see in person. Six months have passed since this last communication. It was very challenging to get someone to come when it starts raining, so the roofer comes at the same time to see where the water is coming from. When I finally got someone coming as a favor one day that it rained, I texted *** ******** several times, called and left messages, and he did not answer until the following day. That was so disrespectful and embarrassing with the people that accommodated to his unrealistic demands. Finally, I called the home inspector who inspected this house when I bought it (who can confirm that there was no leak with the old roof). He went to the roof and took pictures which show the poor sealant A1Roofing used to fix the pipe that they broke while installing the new roof. *** ******** had not even gone to check on the roof, and instead was looking for incoherent excuses. I am asking for your assistance to get a name from A1Roofing administration or their insurance information, which *** ******** has failed to provide. I am attaching the pictures taken by the inspector, which shows the area around the pipe causing the leak.

    Business Response

    Date: 08/08/2024

The business states that it has inspected its work a number of times and not found a leak.  The business stated that it recoated the customer's roof in an effort to address the issue.  The business contends the moisture in the customer's attic is not due to a rook leak, but instead, condensation building up in her attic during the winter months.  The business recommends the customer hire a drywall contractor to cut out a portion of her ceiling around the area where condensation is collecting and install baffles.  The business suggests the customer have vents installed around the roof's soffits to also encourage airflow.  The business stated that it would be willing to install the vents at a cost of $450 and suggests that customer coordinate with both the drywall contractor and A1 Roofing so a coordinated plan can be devised to encourage airflow that would not result in condensation build up.
