      I visited this store to purchase coffee and a snack. Upon checkout I noticed my bill was higher than expected. I looked at my bill and they charged me a $.25 processing fee for a coffee and a cookie. This was a cash sale. I asked about the fee and was only told it’s a processing fee. I didn’t use a credit card or require any utensils. I asked why I was being charged the $.25 and the clerk would only say it’s a processing fee. I think this charge is ridiculous and the practice should be halted.

      In the customer's statement they mention being charged a processing fee for a cash transaction. We do not charge processing fees for cash transactions however, we do charge a 5% service fee on all transactions, which is used to pay for staff health benefits. I believe this may have been miscommunicated by the employee at the time of sale. If for some reason our system errored and tried to charge the fee, I believe our staff would have discounted/voided the charge and would have happily offered a cookie or some other product for the inconvenience. The claim did not have specific order details, but I will reach out to the customer now that this issue has been brought to my attention.

      I am rejecting this response because:

      I visited the store yesterday and had the same issue. I was charged .25 which was again labeled a processing fee. A option for a tip is also provided. I have to pay to park-pay a processing fee and offer a tip to order a cookie and coffee. The parking fee is not their issue but the money still adds up. I think it’s ludicrous to charge the .25 fee. If they want to offer healthcare then they should cover the cost. I have thought about this and have decided to stop elsewhere for a coffee and bring it with me. The entire experience sadly takes away from the pleasantries of a nice cup of coffee and a cookie to enjoy while strolling through the NULU district.
