In my account summary for Galen College of Nursing, it states that my balance is -$3,104. When I reached out to the campus financial services due to not receiving the refund, they informed me that there was a "glitch" in the system and that I actually owe the school $1,021; otherwise, my account will be on hold, and I will not be able to register for next semester. We are in week 5 out of 12 this semester. I was never notified about the $1,021; now they expect me to pay it. They never sent an email saying there was a "glitch" and that the "glitch" would reflect different charges. I spoke with the account services manager, ****, and he suggested that it was my responsibility to do the math and figure out that I owe the money, rather than the school owing me a refund. I have attached an image of my account summary as well as the emails that were exchanged between Tampa Bay Financial Services and me. Thank you for your time.

      Business Response

      Good morning,

During our review, it was noted that there was a minor error on the student’s account, where the
student was unaware of a balance owed. The system placed the student’s account on hold. Galen
College of Nursing worked with the student by immediately removing the hold and assisted with a
payment plan after discussing the balance with the student.

In addition to providing this response, the Director of Campus Operations and the Manager of Student
Financial Services have reached out to the student, providing the same information above, and to
ensure all concerns have been addressed. The student no longer has a hold on her account, was able to
register for classes, and has made payments towards the balance. The student has confirmed all
      payments.

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to this concern.

      Sincerely,

      Galen College of Nursing

This college is for profit, and has made repeated attempts to make sure that students fail in order to retake and pay more money.
I was devastated by Hurricane Helene and yet, there is zero sympathy.
This college is horrible and I am going to the news.

I have paid my tuition through my employer, US government, etc. and I am to receive a refund of around $2500. They are claiming they are having technical difficulties. They deposited only $179 in my account as a refund. I went to the Bursars office to clarify if I was to pay anything on my tuition. And they informed me that I was to receive a refund of around $2500. We are halfway through the quarter and still no money. Students are accidentally being withdrawn as well. They sent me an email stating that they sent my refund into my account, but as I stated, it was only $179. That’s not $2500 as I am expecting and that is from my employer and not from the US government. My expected outcome is to receive the $2500 by no less than Monday, August 19, 2024 as I have waited long enough. Thank you for your help.

Winter 2023 quarter they have change policies to a two strike rule with no make ups making it easier for instructors to single out students for any reason and then require the student to retake courses. My example: was dismissed because I broke the dress code because I forgot my badge, the next meeting I was 10 minutes late for class I was dismissed again so I cannot make up and have to pay to retake the whole course, and the instructor uses my situation as an example to threaten her other students. I am normally stick to the attendance policy but majority of students like myself commute more than an hour to school and clinicals. In my case I was told I should've texted the teacher I was going to be late, but I don't understand how I'm supposed to do that if I was driving. I thought texting and driving was illegal why is it encouraged when it's being used against me in this case.

The KY law for nursing students is to have at least 200 hours of clinical experience. I am not complaining about the price, but we pay $430 per credit hour plus a clinical fee of $125 or $175. I was assigned to work at ****** downtown hospital once a week for 10 hours for mt clinical experience. We are 1/3 into our program and do not have a clinical instructor. So galen can say we have taken our "clinical hours" they have given us busy work, sat at home and listened to a call center all day, then the next week sat in at our schools pearl clinic, had 1 patient and sat there all day and studied. We are being robbed of our clinical experience and paying full price, while learning absolutely nothing. We are not doing hands on learning as you're supposed to in a clinical setting. Many students were assigned to different locations and are having the same problem. They do not inform you on what is happening on your clinical day until last minute and expects you to be there on time or you can get kicked out of the program for missing.
