      Visit 10-11-2023 for ****** ******. I was looking for a dermatologist to look at my son’s *********. Called a few local places to get prices. They quoted me $178 for a visit which was approx same as other places so I went with them. I specifically asked if that was all the visit would cost when I made the appt, I told them I was self pay with no insurance and needed to know my cost up front. The person said that was all I would pay for initial consult. On appt day I signed many papers and likely signed one that said if there is addl fees I’m responsible for them, but since I asked before coming to clarify my charges I didn’t expect there to be any and signed everything they asked me to. I paid the $178 and we saw the dr for about 15 minutes total. He looked at my sons back said it looked bad, talked a bit about treatments, called in a few prescriptions to try and wanted to see him again in about 6 months. No one said anything about what kind of level this visit was or that I had any addl charges to pay. When I got the bill I called and explained exactly what I was told when I made the appt. She said even if the person told me that, it didn’t matter, cause I signed the paper saying I would be responsible. I then talked to someone else and she was going to go back and listen to the recording of the day I made the call to see what I was told but even if that’s what I was told she said I still had to pay. So before they could tell their receptionist to correct what they were telling self pay people I called myself pretending to be another self pay customer and was again told the $178 (wish I’d recorded it) After my complaint they were sure to fix the issue and on a third try, they now tell the customer that there may be addl charges on the day of visit and will be billed later but $178 on the day of. I tried to resolve this and even asked to have ** ******* look at it and adjust his billing. This is not a high level visit to justify charging me $474.
