I HAVE TRIED NUMEROUS TIMES TO HAVE A PAYMENT PLAN MADE ON MY ACCOUNT AT BAPTIS HEALTH. I HAD TWO MAJOR SURGIES IN 3 MONTHS AT THE END OF 2024. I AM PAYING ON ALL OF THEM WHAT I CAN, ALL THE OTHER HOSPITALS ARE WORKING WITH ME AND ARE VERY UNDERSTANDING, I OWE THEM MORE THAN I DO BAPTIST, BUT NOT BAPTIST I PAY MONTHLY EVERY MONTH BUT YET THEY STILL ARE SENDING ME TO COLLECTIONS BECAUSE I CAN'T PAY THE 150.00 A MONTH THAT THEIR GUIDELINES SAY, I SPOKE WITH THE BILLING MANAGER DIANE BUT SHE WAS VERY HATEFUL AND VERY RUDE. I DO HAVE OPTIONS TO GO FOR MY CARE AND WILL NOT BE GOING BACK TO BAPTIST. I AM TRYING TO PAY BUT THEY DONT WANT THE MONEY UNLESS ITS WHAT THEY THINK I SHOULD PAY. THEY HAVE NO IDEA MY FINANCIAL SITUATION. THEY DONT CARE ABOUT THE PATIENTS. I TOLD THEM I COULD PAY 50.00 BUT NOPE THEY WOULD RATHER SEND ME TO COLLECTIONS. HOW CAN YOU GO TO COLLECTIONS WHEN YOU ARE PAYING YOUR BILL EVERY MONTH HOW........Business Response

To whom it may concern,I reached out to the patient and explained we had taken the payment plan out past the guidelines of 12 months. I offered to do a13 month pay plan and the patient did not set up a pay plan. We are unable to do a pay plan for 25 months. (Based on her balance)I discussed financial assistance with her and will mail a financial application to her today.I explained once it is turned over to collections, she would be able to contact the ****** ******and set up a payment plan and it would not affect her credit. She understood and will apply for financial assistance and set up a pay plan when the account goes to the ****** ******.Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I am rejecting this response because: they are able to have the $50 a month. They just choose not to all the other huge hospitals. Help me out and are I'm able to pay them $45 or $50 a month. This is the only hospital that is refusing but yet going to send me to collections because I am paying but I'm just not paying what they want me to pay, I just can't believe that when a person is paying on their bill that they are still tend to collections. And yes it does affect your credit.
Sincerely,

We have tiered guidelines that we adhere to for payment plans. The patient has a balance of $1115.74, 11 months the appropriate amount would be with a pay plan of $101.00. It was authorized to extend the plan to 13 months making it $85.00.
It is unfortunate that we are not able to do a payment plan for $50.00 that is well beyond our guidelines. The patient is able to apply for financial assistance if she needs assistance and one was mailed out.
If the account is turned over to the ****** ******, they will set up a pay plan that may fix the patients' needs and it will not affect her credit as long as she pays as agreed. I am sorry she feels someone was rude, but the call was listened to and kind and appropriate.
Sincerely

I am rejecting this response because: I did fill out the financial assistance and have not heard back. I filled it out on the app on my chart. And I know you say you have these strict guidelines, but again the other hospitals didn't have a problem with it because they want their patients to come back. So evidently Baptist doesn't want their patients coming back. I do have that right to go wherever I want to choose and I will not ever be going back to Baptist.
Sincerely,
****** ******Initial Complaint

We have had several issues with their billing department. We had both my daughters there (2020 and 2022). Both of my hospital stays were put on ***** **** and we were not told of this and received bills between $10,000 and $20,000 almost a year after the hospital stay even after asking if my account was clear. Recently, we saw a withdrawal from our account for over $6,000 without my authorization. Apparently their system charged everyone's account that paid a bill on 8/18/22. How is this legal to make a charge to my account without my consent and act like it's no big deal they kept my account information for over 6 months? All of these issues have pushed me to the edge. I love my OBGYN, but I can't deal with the sketchy billing system any longer and will be looking for a new PCP as well as a OBGYN.Business Response

My account with this company was turned over to collections with no notice to me even though I was making regular payments. I couldn’t pay the high payment they wanted me to but I was paying faithfully what I could. I didn’t know it was turned over to collections until I received a letter from the collection agency.
Also they made me pay my portion up front before I could register. I know this is not allowed by the insurance company.
I had to end up staying the night in the hospital because they could not get my pain under control. I was charged about $70,000 for one night in the hospital. But I personally know someone who spent six nights in the hospital and underwent several tests and their bill was less than mine.
I would like to know how that is even possible.
This company needs to have a policy where they inform you that your account is going to collections. And their prices should be the same. There’s no way somebody spending six nights in the hospital should cost less than somebody spending one night.Business Response

I have reached out to the patient twice and left a message both times, asking for the patient to return my call. We will offer the patient financial assistance on the account in question, and I have mailed out the application to them. The patient did receive care, after review of the account the patient's account was billed correctly and billed to insurance. Insurance processed and let pt responsibility based on their policy. If I do not receive a call back, I assume this can be closed out.Thank You***** *******Initial Complaint

My ** ******* * ******* *********** due to my age and family history. This should be covered 100% per my policy, but the **** ***** it incorrectly and fails to correct the error. This is despite my *** insurance company, and office manager at the **** admitting the error while on the phone with insurance. Insurance can’t change coding by law, and only Baptist can correct this. So instead of having this covered as all my coworkers have had with the same policy, I was sent a bill.Business Response

I called this patient and left a message asking them to return my call. I have not received a response. After review of the account the patient had reported symptoms to the physician prior to the procedure, which would make the procedure coded as diagnostic. This is the way it was billed and is correct. I am able to offer financial assistance to the patient. I have requested an application be sent to the patient. Thanks*****Initial Complaint

I scheduled with dr ***** **** for a physical, I fasted, went in, her nurse practitioner did the questionnaire portion, ***** came in and read over the notes, asked me a few questions and ask if I had any medical complaints, told her I’ve had no issues over the last couple years other than some scaly skin on my thumb, told her I put some over the counter medication on it and it was fine, she told me she could give me a prescription for it, told her it was fine, no problem, she told me she was going to call in a prescription, told her I didn’t need a prescription, this was as I was leaving, (she never examined my thumb) asked about the blood work, she said it would have to be scheduled for later, told her I was ready to do it now, she insisted they would have to schedule and do it later, went to put it on the schedule and the lady told me she couldn’t get me back in till aug 5, mins you this is January 21st and then told me I would have to schedule in again to talk to the dr again, so I put it on the books, couple days go by and I get a notification that dr **** called in a prescription to *******, I called ******* to check on prescription, they said they didn’t have one from dr ****, I then recived an eob and a bill for 144.00, call dr ***** office to discuss, told them I scheduled for a well visit (physical) and it should be no charge, dr **** sent me a message back on my chart and said sorry it was not a well visit, she sent in a prescription, told her there was no prescription, she said sorry it’s not a well visit (didn’t offer to recall in the prescription) said the bill is what it is, so I cancelled my other 2 appointments, I called and filled a complaint with Baptist, spoke with ******** ***** on 3 different occasions, she said she would look into it, a lady named ******** ******* called and left me a message, called her back on 3 occasions with no returned phone call, ******** ***** is now not returning my calls, and now I have received a letter from collectBusiness Response
