I normally don't speak bad about my experiences at facilities who's goal is to help and give life but this is the exception. In my opion it is a horrible place to go. Incompetent isn't even the word for the staff. First time I went I did a whole detailed Medical Evaluation Filled out all paperwork and donated my plasma. Second time I went there which was 4 days later The long haired skinny Brunette said she forgot to draw my blood to test it and I had to redo everything which was fine with me I tried to do it that day but she was very rude and made me feel like I did something wrong and came in and told me I could not donate that day. ******* was my phlebotomist she was amazing. When I came the next time to redo all of my paperwork and testing everything seemed to go smooth but the bald headed guy seemed really annoyed while he was doing my physical I understand they're under a lot of pressure but still you want to treat people correctly and with respect. I donated that day ******* was my phlebotomist again everything went smooth I went back a few days later to donate again and they told me that the ( bald headed guy forgive me I'm not sure his name I'm not trying to be disrespectful )he forgot to put my physical exam into the computer. So needless to say they had to redo all my paperwork and detailed medical exam a 3rd time. The tall skinny gentleman who did my physical was amazing and very thorough. the woman who pricked my finger was also very nice and sweet. they sent me back to give plasma and ***** who was my phlebotomist couldn't get a vein very well and it kept saying no flow and instead of checking it ******* had to come over. I sat there for 45 minutes with no flow and it clogged the filter and all she did was smile and laugh and walk away she didn't stick me right and she refused to check on my line and it causes them to have to stick my other arm ***** was good but walked away and went I guess to lunch right after he put the needle in my arm so ******* had to take all my lines down because my blood was still not flowing correctly. There are a few amazing staff who make my donation worth it. But I think this was my last time at ********. Both sites look infected and due to my post they only paid me $45 dollar even though I have them on recording saying I was given 2 Ivy's I will be paid the whole amount which is $125 for 1st donation. ***********

    Business Response

    Date: 02/21/2023

    ---------- Forwarded message ---------****** ******** *******

I received a complaint letter in the mail today stating we had received a complaint from ******* ********** on 01/16/23.  The letter stated you had made multiple attempts to contact me, but had not received a response and you have closed the complaint.  I apologize for lack of response, but all your emails sent were diverted to my junk email and I did not see any of them until I specifically searched all mailboxes.

In regards to the complaint, we dispute the complaint as the complainant claims we did not pay him the promised payment.  This is claim is not true.  *** ********** presented to donate on 01/05/22 as an applicant donor.  He completed his donation and received $125.   *** ********** is correct that he required a repeat physical examination because his sample was not able to be tested and which was performed on 01/12/22 and he received $125.  *** ********** presented again on 01/16/22 and he is correct he only received $45 but when he made us aware of this shortage, we paid him an additional $80 on 01/18/22 at 8:31 pm.  We have payment records to support this occurred.

We believe *** ********** has filed this complaint because he is upset that he is prohibited from donating because he disclosed to us that he was homeless and he really needed the money.  The ****** ******* ************ ************ **** *************** ***** ********* by which all plasma centers are governed states:  Donors must provide valid photo identification and proof of local residence. Donors with addresses known to be halfway houses, hotels, motels, homeless shelters, or missions are not accepted. In addition, donors who reside outside of the defined DRA in which the plasma center is located will not be accepted.

This is not a decision only made by our center, but all centers must abide by and because of this regulation, *** ********** is not permitted to donate until he provides the center with acceptable proof of residence.

As for any claims of bodily harm, we have processes in place for reporting complications with venipunctures and *** ********** provided us with no such complaint or proof of infection or bruising.  If *** ********** had suffered any complications from donating, he was directed to call the center to report this issue or in extreme circumstances go to the emergency room.  *** ********** was given these instructions twice during the two physicals he admittedly received and it is stated in the to consent for plasmapheresis that he was required to read and sign, which he was also given twice because of his repeat physical examination.
