After losing my job due to mental health concerns, (I took most of my clonipin prescription from LBH in an attempt to kill myself and confessed this while sitting in the TMS chair for my 36th treatment session at LBH) My daughter also lost her insurance and we are in the process of trying to prove a life change to insurance so my daughter can continue on her meds. I placed a call into LBH to get her Rx shifted over to CVS from Meijer pharmacy as the CVS cannot do it, being a controlled substance. The new Rx coverage is strictly through CVS. I requested this change during the visit with the provider. She talked me out of switching pharmacies saying, “If Meijer carries this med, you better stick with them because it is a new drug and will likely not be covered by insurance anyway.” With that, I thought we were going to self-pay what we’ve always paid for the drug: around $65.00. I went to Meijer and even after a GoodRx coupon, they wanted $476 to fill the Rx. My daughter’s grades have shifted from straight A’s for the past couple of years to C’s since the Holiday break. When I talked to billing at LBH, The lady was condescending and rude. (Set aside the fact that I paid $130+ at the time of the visit). This lady said to me in a crappy tone of voice, “Well, you don’t think it is fair that _________ should provide free medical care to your child do you?” I went onto explain once more that it is January, she just had a life change we have submitted everything necessary. She said, “Call us back when you can make payment and I’m canceling your daughter’s follow up appointment for April 7th until we have confirmation that her insurance is valid”. Then I received a follow up phone call that the provider will not change the Rx over to CVS as requested. These people have no heart. This is a money making facility, not a healthcare facility. I believe every doctor still takes the Hippocratic oath, “…first do no harm…”. Apparently this oath does not apply at LBH!
