      I am filing this complaint regarding the ongoing construction project conducted by Louisville MSD in front of our residence at *** * *** **. The work began several months ago and has caused significant disruption and damage, with no formal advance communication or planning shared with us as residents.

      We received no notice before the construction started outside of a mailed flyer and were not given guidance about the scope of work including important details that should have been verbally communicated to residents in the area. Since then, we have been unable to place our trash cans in front of our home, and no alternative collection solution was provided.

      More seriously, our home has suffered structural damage as a result of the ongoing construction. The continuous shaking and vibrations from the heavy machinery caused foundation issues, which led to water leaking into our basement, damage to hardwood floors, damage to tile floors, and damage to walls— something we had never experienced prior to the start of this project. Due to the damage, we were forced to complete $8,000 in foundation repairs. We will also be faced with repairing floors, walls, doors, and the basement floor due to the issues. We are requesting full reimbursement for the foundation expense and MSD to pay for other damages to the home caused my the construction as we firmly believe it was caused by MSD’s construction activity.

      In addition, the conduct of the workers has been unacceptable. They often park in the middle of the street, blocking access to nearby homes and making it difficult or impossible for residents to park near their own property. I filed a complaint with MSD about this specific issue and never received any response or follow-up.

      We are seeking reimbursement for repair work completed and payment of future expenses due to the damage, as well as improved communication and accountability from MSD regarding the impact of their construction projects on residents and their property.
