    I submitted a form to a third-party company to help me find movers in my area. **** from TopDogg Moving, LLC, called me to solicit business from this 3rd party service. All communication has been through text message and one telephone conversation.

    I submitted a good-faith $100 deposit to TopDogg Moving on May 20, 2025 to secure a moving appointment for June 7, 2025. Of note, **** asked me to pay via ***** *** ** ***** and NO contract was signed.

    I canceled the service in advance, on May 27, 2025, and requested a refund. I followed up again on May 28, 2025 to make sure **** saw my initial request to cancel services and refund the deposit.

    The company refused, stating that the deposit is nonrefundable. However, I was not provided with any written contract or terms of service at the time of payment that established this non-refundability.

    No services were rendered, and the company had sufficient notice to fill the appointment. Retaining the deposit without service or clear contractual basis constitutes a deceptive business practice.

    I attempted to resolve the matter directly with the business, but they maintain their position without citing any documented policy, so I have filed a claim with my bank for resolution.

    I am requesting the assistance of your office prevent this company from continuing to operate without proper consumer disclosures, and if necessary, to recoup the $100 if my bank is unsuccessful.

    We are a small, family-run company.

    The consumer booked their move over the phone and provided a $100 deposit. At the time of booking, it was clearly communicated that deposits are non-refundable. When the consumer later canceled, I explained that the $100 deposit could be applied as a credit toward any future move and would be deducted from the total contract price. Please note that our customers do not sign contracts until the actual moving date.
