    On 11/11/24 my 14yr old daughter had an apt for a routine braces checkup. Without being consulted prior, during or post visit, the dentist ***** ******** removed her braces and didn't even provide a retainer to prevent her teeth from shifting, rendering the previous work pointless. When I inquired as to why I was informed that she needed more extensive treatment and needed a specialist. An orthodontist will just put more braces on which they agreed with, begging the question again, why did they remove them. I was then informed that the hardware is the dentists property and they sterilize the hardware and reuse them! They were compensated by myself and the insurance company for the hardware and the work yet they reuse the hardware and are compensated again and again with each reuse. I was also told that I wouldn't have full benefits any longer moving forward with the specialist due to the benefits already being used for the previous hardware and work so I will now be out of pocket again for something I've already paid for. It is unacceptable for a medical professional to make decisions for a minor without consulting with the parent first. It is impractical and highly unsanitary for them to reuse hardware that has been in a patients body and lastly it is financially misleading for the dentist to be compensated over and over for the same hardware used on multiple patient

    we informed the complaintant that we will be refunding any costs for ortho. It will be refunded.  we are currently working with insurance for this.  it is up to the insurance company as to how much and when we can refund it. it is our intentions to refund the full amount.  

    we informed the patient 2 appointments in past that we may have to refer her to specialist.  Covid has put a strain on finding employees. we do not have enough workers to set aside the time needed to treat this patient.  this patient also missed some appointments making it harder to treat and the patient keeps popping off brackets thus delaying treatment.

    we do not reuse brackets. they are discarded. If administration stated this, they do not know what we do in clinic. they should have asked.
