At the beginning of January, 2023, I had noticed extra charges on my bill. When I called to inquire about the charges, I was told "it's because your unit was not secured with a lock". I had 2 locks on my unit previously. When I informed Lighthouse about them, I was told that Lighthouse had removed my locks to assess the contents of my unit because I was 15 days late on my payment 2 months prior. When Lighthouse did this, they did not secure my unit back. I did not get any notification of this happening despite Lighthouse stating that they emailed me. I reviewed every email they ever sent me and NONE of them said anything about them removing my locks. My storage unit sat for 2 months with no lock and I had no idea that it was unlocked. Lighthouse said that it's my responsibility to secure my unit but they cut my lock off. Needless to say, my unit had been gone through and alot of items were missing. A full set of wheels, another set of tires, a dishwasher, mini fridge and other items was gone. After expressing my issue with Lighthouse, I filed a police report. The detective on the case contacted Lighthouse to gain access to the "state of the art security cameras". He was told that they would review the footage and let the detective know what was found. After a couple months, still nothing had been reported about the footage. I called several times and left messages but never got a call back. The only form of communication has been through email and I was told that "We cannot possibly go through months of footage in hopes of possibly seeing someone in my unit". I don't understand how a company can remove my locks and leave my unit unlocked. Yes, I was late on a payment but that don't give them the right to leave my belongings open for the taking. Of coarse, Lighthouse has not taken any responsibility for my stolen items. They also claim that emails was sent to me about my locks being removed but that is also FALSE! I asked them to send me proof of this and have seen nothing from them.
