      I have done business since 7-12-12 with Smith Monument Works. My last transaction was 7-17-23 for which I paid by check and ***** cashed. I have had 5 transactions with him and all were fine. My last purchase was a bench for my husband’s grave. I paid in full and he said it would be set by fall. Here it is winter and nothing yet. I went to his shop 8 weeks ago and he said the pieces were already cut. 2 weeks ago I returned to his shop and he blames it on Covid 19 and lack of employees. He couldn’t even give me an idea of when the memorial bench will be installed. I told him I wanted my money although I knew I couldn’t get a refund because it wasn’t set. I am very aggravated with not getting it set when he said he would. And he had the audacity to say a customer has a vinegary attitude. Yes, maybe I do. But I am fed up. I also need another stone made but he will not get my business.

      It was fall the last couple of times Mrs Owens was here yelling at me. It was fall when she filed this complaint. It’s fall today.

      i ********* ******** am helping my mother ******* **** who is 87. and has health issues. i am the daujghter who took my mother to Smith monument to get them to place the date of death of my father which happends to be 4/21/2022. a check was given to them on may 13 and cemetery lettering order was completed. $180.00 check was given to them on this date and was cased by them on this same date as per cancelled checks show in mom' acct. it has been 4 and 1/2 months since then and the date of death has yet to placed on the headstone. even at having to train someone to help him and being behind i hardly think that it would take this long ( My aunt waited on this same people to put the date of death on my other aunts head stone for over a year and my uncle went with receipt in hand and got money back for their issue of another aunts same issue. had to go to another place and they have the date on it in no time.. told my mother i wasnt waiting a yr to have dads date of death put on headstone.l i have tried calling them and a cell # ************ and left message no answer has come./ invoice #*****.. the actual headstone came from them over 20 years ago and he had verification of this in his recordsl.`

      i finally got ahold of smith monument, and the fellow told me that he had received my complaint letter from the bbb, and that he had not had time to replay to it. as he was out sick. but he was stumbling all over his words while talking to me, he kept referring to doing the work in the spring and the fall of the year. but, the things is like i said in my complaint that it took him over a  yr and he had not gotten the date of death on my aunt on her headstone, and it has already been 5 months on dads date. he is not running an efficient bussiness, he told me that he already had the stencil made to put the date on the headstone. and even if he gave us a refund it would not be for the full amount, so i told he he needed to get his work done then.and done right. he seemed angry on the phone.  you know even with having to train someone and getting caught up on a back lot you would think that after a year and a half that they would have things under control by now.
