I spoke to the business multiple times during the week of 3/31 regarding my car, and not once was I informed of the base towing fee of $425 until Friday, 4/4. I explained repeatedly that I’m a student with limited funds, yet the business only accepts cash—which felt predatory given the unexpectedly high fees and lack of payment flexibility.

Over the phone, I was subjected to unprofessional and demeaning comments about my financial situation. The owner mocked my inability to afford full coverage insurance and accused me of “whining and complaining” when I simply expressed concern about the growing bill. I was made to feel ashamed for advocating for myself.

I was also charged a $50 “unloading fee” when the car was dropped off—even though no one helped unload anything.

On April 8, I drove 4 hours to pick up my car and stayed in communication the entire time. My original ETA was 6:06 PM. Even though the shop closes at 6 PM, I called ahead and was told that was fine. At 5:45 PM, I called again and was told it was still okay because the staff member’s last client was scheduled for 6:30 PM.

Due to traffic (which was out of my control), my ETA kept shifting slightly—6:25, 6:35, and finally 6:59 PM. I kept updating them and was just 20 minutes away when I called again at 6:35 PM. This time, the owner answered, and although he initially said I could still come if I paid the secretary’s overtime rate of $50 (which I agreed to immediately), he revoked the offer moments later and told me not to come at all. He told me she “has a life” and that I “should’ve left earlier.”

Despite all my communication, efforts to cooperate, and even offering to pay extra, I was forced to turn around after a 4-hour drive—and now face an additional $45 storage fee simply because the owner chose to go back on his word.
