      04/05/2025, Saturday my son's 2001 Dodge Ram truck broke down on I69 during torrential rains during a state of emergency. We came back for the truck the same day and ** ***** ****** had Kelly's Towing pickup the truck. $250 state police tow fee plus two days of storage at $85/ day. Equals $420. Kelly's Towing demanded $850 and stated we would have to bring them the title and keys and sign the truck over to them or go to court and be sued by them. His truck is valued at $3,500. His new tires were $1,600 and new battery was $200 and purchased last week. At first they tried to charge us for three days if storage including today, the day we would pick up. When I question this they removed the third day of storage and acted as if they were doing me a favor for doing so. I reached out to KY senators, ****** ***** *** **** ******** and KSP to request that they be removed from KSP Towing rotation. ****** ******* show this company routinely overcharges. One customer paid $950 to tow his truck across the street. My son, Elijah Portilla, is going to give them his first truck today because we can't pay $850 for a tow and two days of storage. This company is stealing vehicles from the working poor and KSP continues to funnel more vehicles to them. Can anything be done to protect the public from a predatorial tow company that has KSP's blessing? We need his truck back desperately. But it will be their's now because of their imaginary invoice and fluid charges that they can add with no consequences. We are signing over the truck today to avoid more dishonest charges. It's sad when there's no consequences and Kelly's Towing just keeps collecting the vehicles of the working poor.
