We had switched to a new insurance and it was provided at the visit in question. Our kids had their 6 month cleaning. The dental office charged our old insurance (****** *********** which we still had til the end of august but did not want to use. They contacted us saying we had an outstanding balance and that the insurance did not cover all. I advised the dental office of the mistake. They denied getting the new card and told me the balance was due and they could not submit to another insurance. I was advised by my current insurance company ******* that they will pay the outstanding balance because it was a every 6 months cleaning. Since we had overlapping insurance at that time, *****, being the secondary insurance would accept the clean claim after the primary insurance had been ran. They just needed Time F Crisp office to send them the clean claim to which Dr. Crisp office has refused to do even with being called several times and an in-person visit to ask them to submit the claim. We beleive they are waiting for the 6 month window to lapse so that we will not be able to submit to the secondary insurance and will be liable for the balance.

The claim has been sent to the secondary insurance as requested prior to this complaint being filed as requested by the patient and Mom was aware of this information. For the August date of service our Dr. was actually still in the credentialing process with ***** and didn't have an effective date until 11/06/2023. We have spoke with the parent several time about this issue, and let them know we were working on it. After receiving this complaint via mail today, reached out to the patient to let them know we have submitted the claim per there requested also made *********** ******** aware that there is a chance ***** could deny this because of the effective date of the dr. being after the date of service of the claim unless he has out of network benefits. Per *********** ******** he had filed this without speaking to his wife and after making her aware of his complaint to BBB she informed him she had spoken with us and the claim was being reprocessed, per *** ******** he stated today 02/15/2024 he would be contacting the BBB to remove his complaint.

I took my 5 year old daughter to the dentist on Tuesday 5/30/2023 to have a cleaning and checkup. My daughter is Autistic and non-verbal with an OFFICIAL diagnosis. The dental assistant, (I believe her name is ********, was very rude and unprofessional with me and my daughter. She asked that my daughter sit alone in the exam chair when I went to sit with her and I told her that she is unable to sit alone as she doesn't understand that kind of thing and will not stay seated. The dental assistant was visible annoyed with me and my daughter and proceeded to tell me that it was too hard on her arm to have to reach around my daughter laying in my lap.

So, I tried to put my daughter up in the chair and of course she sat right up and tried to get out. Again, the dental assistant was visibly annoyed. She finally allowed me to sit in the chair with my child and when I tried to speak and talk about what I was wanting her to examine, she cut me off mid sentence and barely said another word.

After the exam by the dentist, I left the office and called to tell the office manager, *****, about my experience and she was also extremely unhelpful and told me there was nothing that she could do. She was not apologetic for her staff member nor apologetic that my autistic child was treated with such disrespect. She told me I was free to go somewhere else and I ended the call once I realized that nothing would come of the situation.

My daughter deserves to be treated with respect and professionalism from someone even if she is nonverbal and Autistic and they have to make an accommodation for her. The dental assistant was extremely unprofessional, unhelpful, and beyond rude to me and my child. This office may want to consider getting more training on kids with disablilites and the accommodations that they might need. It shouldn't be okay to treat anyone, especially children, this way.
